Sealofts On The Beach

We enjoyed our stay here. Our oceanview loft was very comfortable and the view from the balcony was beautiful. Given how close it is to the beach, it was lovely to hear the sounds of the waves and smell the salt of the water. It is also a great location -- walking distance to coffee shops, a grocery store, pharmacy, and restaurants.

Location was great with access to shops and restaurants with taxi on the doorstep. Relaxing and clean swimming pool, overall a spacious property with A/C throughout with balcony access x 3 spaces. Management (Joyce) was prompt to reply regarding all queries and supplied new towels. Washing machine / dryer worked really well.

Light bulb needed changing, broken window in 2nd bedroom. Mismatch of kitchen utensils, cutlery and pots. The top bedroom did not have privacy for a married couple as sound travelled in the open plan space below. Small TV in lounge only. Inadequate full length mirrors in bedroom/ bathroom. Shower cubical by the front door should not be included in the description.

The 2 contact hosts were exceptional Joyce & Susan. They both went above and beyond to see my family, and I were comfortable. They went as far as to arrange taxi and rental car for us and it was all flawless. The stay has given me motivation to visit St Kitts for a yearly vacation. The price and quality certainly matched and exceeded all expectations.

The ocean view units are close to the water and you can readily hear the waves. There is a good ocean view from the deck-- not the lean out over the railing for a glimpse between the buildings that some properties call ocean view. There are many good restaurants in easy walking distance. Also groceries (the best one is near the Marriott), a good wine shop (across the street), and a pharmacy (also near the Marriott). Sealofts is right next to the Frigate Bay taxi stand, so getting a car is easy, though you may need to pre-arrange your return ride. (All in all, one would probably be better off renting a car if staying here.)

The air conditioning in our unit is old and needs to be replaced. It was not able to keep the unit cool during the day. There were also some less critical maintenance items that contributed to a less than ideal stay. The Saint Kitts water department sometimes shuts off service overnight to conserve water. This happened one night while we were there. (There was also a water main break one day, which was repaired in a couple of hours.) There is no easy access to the beach from this property. While the description is clear that the Sealofts waterfront is not for swimming (the Atlantic side waters can be pretty rough), it was still disappointing not to be able to get onto the beach and walk around. There is an access through a side gate, but it involves going down a fairly steep sand embankment. (If you could get onto the beach, the Marriott beach, which is safe for swimming, would be about a 5 minute walk. It's more like 10 minutes going around the land side.) We were disappointed that the main bedroom balcony did not face the ocean. Some units do and if this is something that matters to you, check with the property before booking.
