Everything fantastic stay exceptional staff and the breakfast was sublime .

It was a very charming building with many period pieces. Parking was easy and check in was simple. The extras made the stay even more special. The breakfast was very well done and having access to a scullery was very generous. There was port and chocolates in the sitting room for guests. The room was clean and very comfortable. There is an area to see the view of Mt Wellington from the room. The bathroom is very on point with a claw bath.

We loved the location and the wonderfully preserve old building that still provided comfort and convenience. The large bath was great asset, as was the old style community breakfast.

Free and private parking. Staff were helpful. Kathy (housekeeper) warmed up to us easily enough and both the housekeeper and manager were helpful with suggestions for tourists. Accommodation was spacious. Good for people who are lovers of antiques. Even the cutlery was a blast from the past.

We felt like the reviews calling the breakfast superb were wrong (which is a major reason why we booked). We had high hopes, but the breakfast experience was a let down. No eggs, no pastries (only bread and quiche), no alternative sweeteners. The first morning of our stay, no fresh fruit. Basic fruit like apple, bananas and pears would have helped (not a fruit salad). Perhaps we were expecting hotel standards, since people raved about it. If you love croissants, salmon and quiche, go there. After taking a shower that first night, we found that the bathroom floor and carpet had what seemed like animal hair. The breakfast and cleanliness of the rooms were the biggest let down.
