Free and private parking. Staff were helpful. Kathy (housekeeper) warmed up to us easily enough and both the housekeeper and manager were helpful with suggestions for tourists. Accommodation was spacious. Good for people who are lovers of antiques. Even the cutlery was a blast from the past.
We felt like the reviews calling the breakfast superb were wrong (which is a major reason why we booked). We had high hopes, but the breakfast experience was a let down. No eggs, no pastries (only bread and quiche), no alternative sweeteners. The first morning of our stay, no fresh fruit. Basic fruit like apple, bananas and pears would have helped (not a fruit salad). Perhaps we were expecting hotel standards, since people raved about it. If you love croissants, salmon and quiche, go there.
After taking a shower that first night, we found that the bathroom floor and carpet had what seemed like animal hair. The breakfast and cleanliness of the rooms were the biggest let down.
