Lovely room and friendly host

The breakfasts were great. Keith and Virginia were very accommodating. The room was cozy and quiet.
We came at winter and with the stunning view of the harbor, came the wind. We are not use to relying on a small space heater and heated towel rack to assist in heating a room. We got comfortable but were cold at times.

Was convenient to get into town on foot, parking on road directly outside, Keith very friendly
Room could do with a really deep clean, shower head very dirty

Great location and view over harbour
Dwellings bit dated

The location was good - great view, and not far from the railway station, Very handy for the excellent chip shop around the corner - and breakfast in the morning was exceptional, served piping hot.
The window could have been a little cleaner - but I appreciate that's going to be difficult with the North Sea a very short distance away....

All ok

The breakfast was good and arrived at the room on time. The location was ok down by the harbour but the street was scruffy
The house was very scruffy~ peeling wallpaper, filthy stair carpet and old fashioned furniture.

The location was okay, we didn’t stay for breakfast.
On entering the building it looked scruffy, going into reception it smelt musty and had a dirty smell. The carpet was very dirty, the room was very out dated as from the 70’s, there was a a
small table and chairs for breakfast to be brought to, the chairs were torn with the foam showing. The the shower door was dirty round the bottom and looked like it was hardly cleaned. The whole place needed refurbishing and modernising.

Friendly welcoming staff, good value for money, excellent breakfast

Dated in places and needing some TLC but appreciate how difficult this can be for a small business in an area like Wick

Breakfast in room
This property was very dirty and disorganised. From the entry lobby and up the stairs was filthy. The room wasn’t much better however the toilet was clean. The bedding looked clean but smelled quite unfresh. There was a limescale build up in the shower tray, the fireplace with fake flowers was covered in dust.
The carpets needed a good hoover and shampoo. Decor was damp and very outdated!

Breakfast was good
Parking on the street
Rooms need upgrading- including shower facilities
Had to pay extra for my wife to stay - so online booking complicated - thought we were paying for a room not per person so if we known this we would have paid more to stay elsewhere

The breakfast was very good and plenty of it, was able to park outside and get a takeaway nearby.
There were a lot of stairs for my wife to negotiate, and the bathroom light was on a sensor so it was impossible to go to the toilet during the night without setting it off.

This guest house doesn't look too promising from the outside, but don't be put off. Our room was very spacious and had a Tassimo coffee machine with pods, our host, Virginia, was very helpful and friendly, we had a view of the harbour, and the location was both central and quiet at the same time. But our favourite part was the breakfast. There is no breakfast room here, so our breakfast order was taken the night before, then all the food and drink was delivered to our room the next morning on a hot plate, and there was a table and chairs in the room to sit at to eat it. The breakfast was delicious, and we really liked having it in our room, as we often find breakfast in a guest house dining room to be a bit quiet and awkward. Also, this was the cheapest of all the places we stayed on the NC500, but it's the one we enjoyed the most. It isn't The Ritz, but you're not paying Ritz prices here, so book in and enjoy it.

Friendly couple, very efficient and informative check-in. My room (3) was very spacious for a single with good view of harbour. Lovely and warm after a day's walk. Great breakfasts served in room.
Nothing that i didn't like, but be prepared for stairs.

Firstly I don't normally take reviews at face value as people do like to moan but I need to provide comment here. It was very rough and run down. Not clean and had a musky smell. The breakfast next day was served in our room and when the lid was taken off contained a previous breakfast. If we could have found somewhere else on arrival I would have paid the extra and left. I do not recommend at all.
ANYTHING.

Great location, friendly host, good selection of tea, coffee, biscuits, breakfast in your room.
Property needs some renovation and furniture update (in our room at least) The reception area upstairs on the 1st floor was messy and not very welcoming.

Front door a bit off putting, but the rest OK

Nice clean bed and pristine towels, good hot shower. Breakfast in the room was great, and piping hot. Overlooking the harbour. Very quiet.
Decor was dated, and tired looking, shower tray didn’t drain very quickly, room felt overcrowded with too much furniture (you didn’t need the tub chair)

Everything was good
The sausage for breakfast 😅

The people looking after the place were friendly
The room needs a complete makeover, it was awful and getting charged £90 for the night for such a room is an absolute disgrace.

Friendly staff, good room, nice view, good location, working wifi (not always the case!), good breakfast. Good place to store a bike!
Decor perhaps needs a refresh!

The beds were very comfortable and the breakfast was good.
The bedrooms were two floors up without a lift. It was a bit old fashioned but that was reflected by the very reasonable price.

Breakfast was served in the room, and was served hot. Good choice of breakfast. View was ok.
Hosts were friendly and welcoming, and helpful in pointing out places to eat that accept dogs.
I didn’t like the fact we ate in our room. Room was hot and we were unable to turn off the radiator. Had to keep window open. Room looked tired and bathroom looked in need of decoration. Place did not look very welcoming from the outside.

Great location, good sized single room. Nice addition of a coffee machine in the room. Very nice welcome by Virginia and breakfast served in the room the next morning it was a nice touch.
The bathroom was not ensuite and was not clean - lots of cobwebs and dirty floors.

Good location for our trip & excellent breakfast served to our room
Everything was excellent apart from general cleanliness
8.0 / 10.0
The bed was very clean and comfortable, the towels were clean and white, the breakfast was nice and piping hot even although it was delivered to our room as no restaurant, the staff were welcoming and helpful.
The whole place needed a deep clean and painted, the metal shelf’s in the shower need removed as all rusty and the reception area was very dusty and untidy
4.0 / 10.0
The view from my room.
The location of the hotel within easy reach of the town.
The fixture and fittings in the bathroom were rusty and should be replaced.
A disused dispenser was mouldy but still in place
A window in the room was cracked and two of the blinds did not wind down
