The Black Lion Pub & Boutique Guesthouse

Gorgeous hotel and pub/restaurant!! Our room was beautiful, high ceilings, fireplace and fantastic bathroom! The staff were wonderful and the service was excellent for both the hotel and pub!

We loved our stay. The room was just lovely. Very nicely decorated with a lot of room. The staff was wonderful.

The neighborhood was a little uncomfortable. We didn’t feel entirely safe walking in the evening.

The location was quite good for attending Wembley, so long as you're comfortable walking a bit from the tube station or taking the local train, both of which were easy to access and convenient for us. The neighborhood is very alive and enjoyably multicultural. :D Easy to find other places to grab a bite, coffee, or anything you forgot to bring. A couple of fruit markets and outdoor vendors along the walk to any of the tube or bus options as well. The Inn itself is so lovely. They've restored it quite nicely and the front desk staff were all so polite and welcoming! The a/c was a godsend in the middle of the heatwave, and the room definitely large for London. You actually have room to exist instead of kind of squeeze in and sleep. XD

The hours of check in are a little unclear between Booking and their personal website. With the heat affecting GWR train times, it would be really helpful if staff were more responsive to phone/text when their guests reach out with concerns regarding whether they'll be able to enter their accommodations. Obviously, the trains aren't their responsibility (so this didn't affect their score, or our experience once we arrived), it was just another layer of stress that we couldn't get in touch with anyone while it was happening and therefore didn't know if we'd be able to access the room, as they do not staff overnight.

We loved being above the pub. It was lovely being able to have a pint before retiring to our room for the evening. The room, including the bathroom, was more spacious and accommodating than expected. Breakfast was fine - well attended by staff. We were initial concerned about the location, but happily able to catch a bus from just out front of the hotel. The train station, we discovered was only a couple of blocks, easily accessible.

The only drawback was the lack of a lift. We were traveling for many days and had heavy bags to lift up the (45) steps. Although we had help from one of the staff members, it was still an effort going up an down the steps, especially after a long day of sightseeing.
