Absolutely , I will stay again in this place.

Great location, very comfy bed, excellent bathroom facilities, welcome stuff personal.

Generally, I do like everything, because I had a very cute room on 5 floor.. even though I booked a bed with 6 people.. I did upgrade myself paying another 60 Francs for 2 nights on top of previous price. I had my comfort.

I really like the hospitality of the staff, how they helped you around both the motel and bern, and the fact that the motel provided the guests with all it needs to cook food, regardless of breakfast and dinner. I really appreciate the complimentary basic foodstuff such as rice and pasta, its really a lifesaver!! Add the fact that everything within the hotel (public space, room, bathroom, reception) is very clean and tidy! They even gave the guests freebies at the reception in the form of brochures, maps, and event posters to ensure that you wont get lost around Bern. Id reckon thats something that you wont find even in some pricier hotels or accomodations!

None! Everything exceeds my expectation. Its very much worth the price theyre charging you! If theres complaints regarding how cramped the stairs are, you're complaining about the wrong stuff - its a backpackers hotel, after all!

good hostel

It was right in the city center, and they gave me a free bus ticket. They gave me soap and city maps, and they warned me in advance that the hostel closes at 10 p.m. If I return to Bern, I'll stay there again.

It's hard to find the entrance, I spent a long time looking for the entrance. There are no free towels.

fine facilities, but just an ok experience

convenient location, but on a very busy street, so lots of night time noise. nice having your own sink in each bedroom.

stay was just kind of meh. fine for a one night stay if you already have set plans, but if you’re hoping to socialize and meet new people this is not a good hostel for that. no real sense of community or much engagement/recommendations from the staff, so felt a bit isolated and bored during my stay.

Loved it here!

This was our base during our 3 nights stay in Switzerland. The location was perfect, walking distance to all the beautiful sights in bern and the train station. In the center of town, with lots of food options. Free rice, pasta and cereals with milk are provided with your stay. Has a complete kitchen facilities and washer dryer. The place was impeccably clean, even the common washrooms. Also the staff are so sweet and accommodating! Would stay again!

The key box is quite frustrating. The wooden key fob & metal ring are far too large, so the door closes only with great difficulty. Once it took 15 attempts to close the box! Improving this would certainly improve my impression of this otherwise fine accommodation.

Great experience

The staff were very kind and accommodating. The dorm room, bathrooms, and showers were very clean and comfortable. The kitchen space was also regularly cleaned. A fan was provided for the room as it was very hot, which helped a lot. I would absolutely stay here again.

As it is right next to a busy street, it can be noisy at night. Of course, this is out of the hostel's control so this is more of a heads up to maybe bring earplugs if you have trouble sleeping with noise.

Location - in the middle of the old city. The building is fresh and modern. The staff are friendly and very helpful. The common room, kitchen and laundry area is neat, fresh, clean and tidy. Instructions are clear.

Expensive but chill.

Incredible location in the heart of the city centre, and the private rooms are also pretty spacious. Toilets and showers were also pretty clean, but the big plus is the sink in the private room, allowing us to brush our teeth and get ready with our own privacy, a rarity in a hostel, even for common rooms! Do take note that there's also a free public transit pass with the hostel, take that into account when checking in (and the staff were also really nice as well).

The price. I know, it's Switzerland, it's unavoidable, but this was still an eye-watering price for a single night.

Great location!

Great location in the old town, easy walk around town and to all the tourist sights. Short walk to the train station as well. Lots of nice cafes, bars and restaurants nearby. Big spacious rooms and bathrooms. Lift access to higher floors. Friendly staff gave us really handy tips!

Wifi was a bit slow at times but not a huge issue. We booked a double bed which was two twin beds pushed together so bit uncomfortable, but again, not a huge issue.

Bern Backpackers

Bus stop across the street. Main train station a 10 min walk. Kitchen was clean, and had everything needed to make meals. 2 kinds of breakfast cereal and milk provided at no charge. Free tea, and coffee available for a small fee. Staff at reception were wonderful. I would stay there again

No lift from ground level to reception on second level. A few more stairs to reach lift. Helpful staff carried my luggage to/from ground level. Room was very bare, and private room with shower was more expensive than another hotel where I stayed in Bern. The mattress was not very comfortable, it had a saggy middle

Perfect location, clean comfortable, welcoming hostel accommodation.

Location absolutely perfect for everything in Bern. This is hostel accommodation, not a hotel or B&B. The accommodation is therefore basic and what you would expect for low cost accommodation…….BUT, everything is very well organized. The kitchen facility is extensive and spotlessly clean. The common room is spacious. The lady on reception was so friendly and helpful and seemed to us to love her job of helping people. A bonus that we didn’t expect was complimentary breakfast cereal and milk provided in the common room in the morning. Bearing in mind the nature of the accommodation, we could not fault it.

Nice, convenient, comfortable stay!

Nice and clean hostel with very friendly and helpful staff! The beds were comfortable and it was not cramped in the room. There was even a sink in the room. Location was right in the center and incredibly convenient for walking and public transport.

My only complaint was that another guest removed my laundry from the washing machine within 2 minutes from the cycle ending. Although this was not a reflection of the hostel and rather a concern with another guest, I might recommend the hostel posts some rules for using the machines and removing other guests' laundry.

Good choice to see the city

Very friendly staff! The hotel provides Bern city guest card. The room was simple but enough for a short stay. The bathrooms and showers are shared but never needed to wait when I needed to use them. Paid laundry (includes detergent) available. Really nice location.

There was a party on the street below the windows till 22/23 so if someone wants or needs to go to sleep earlier, sometimes it might not be the best choice.

Great potential.

Excellent staff, excellent location, great information and assistance, very helpful that they let you store luggage. They try their best to keep it clean.

They charge you $3 for a cup of coffee. That should be included. $12 for a load of laundry is also pretty steep. Guests who do not respect the rules or clean up after themselves, act like they are in their own home. For example, it says no food in the rooms. Group of young guys carrying packs of food to their rooms. Ladies restroom destroyed by the guys ignoring the sign, using it, and leaving water, tissue, and smell everywhere. Kitchen left a mess, couples laying all over the couches and making out like they were alone was one of the more bizarre things I've seen in a hostel. 3 nights in a row, older couple take the remote, turn on the TV, blast it on full volume to a movie of their liking with their food, drinks and snacks everywhere, making out, taking up the couches. It was the strangest and most inappropriate behavior I've seen in the common area of a supposed hostel. SO awkward. Family with screaming baby/toddlers. A barking dog. Yelling people. There need to be some parameters on all of this, its mayhem. Unfortunately the staff have to step up to moderate some of this.

Good as long as you wear earplugs

Large common area and kitchen, comfortable beds that each have their own reading light, shelf and power outlets, large closets to store your luggage in and come with a key. Shower was nice and warm with good water pressure. City tax includes public transit in Bern!

The location has its benefits but also downsides, such as the noise from the nightlife down below. Even with the windows closed it was pretty loud, couldn’t open them at night because of the noise and rooms got very warm and stuffy as a result. In the common area there’s a vending machine that is so noisy that it’s not relaxing to sit there for a longer period of time. Reception closes between 12 and 15 but luckily I found a member of staff who could open the luggage storage for me so I could still drop off my backpack when I arrived at 13.

although there were stairs to navigate to the first floor reception, the person there helped with bringing our luggage up - and there was a lift up to our fifth floor room so all good
