A lovely couple of days to mark my husband's birthday

breakfast was really good, lots of fruit and seeds etc in the buffet Hot dishes also good. Dinner was excellent, not overprices but sensible size portions and lots of flavour

No lift but I understand the reason for that. Room suffered a lot of condensation and bathroom fittings could do with a bit more care.

Hit and miss. It's mostly a hit, but...

Cleanliness was good.

Room location. Scaffolding was up against the windows. It was facing a back service yard. One of the windows was banging all night. I'm not sure if it was a fitting or the scaffolding that was hitting the window. My room was right next to the beer garden, so it was noisy until closing time. The food wasn't great. I spent over £40 on a meal, and it was very average.

Booked as a one night stop over with a dog in tow. Facilities were excellent, very clean and comfortable accommodation.

It’s a very hilly little village , as was the garden at the hotel. This made the outside areas around the hotel a bit inaccessible for those with mobility issues. Other than that it was lovely.

Everything went well, thanks. My room was beautifully appointed, had complementary dressing gowns, hot drink facilities, a super comfy bed. It was peaceful and relaxing. Dinner and breakfast were lovely, good value for money. The Sunday roast, small portion was plenty for me...I imagine the normal portion would be huge!! Lovely, crispy Yorkshire puddings, almost as good as my Mum's!! All staff were so polite and attentive. I loved the live music in the beautiful surroundings. I would certainly recommend anyone to stay here for a restful, country break. The surrounding countryside is stunning and Bishop's Castle is an interesting, querky little town.

Location was amazing, the hotel really stands out Breakfast was good if a little expensive staff were great and friendly

The rooms sliding window would shake when windy and was quite noisy (rm3) we stuck some packets of tea bags in the side to stop the rattle! Bath location is interesting, prob could of fitted it in the actual bathroom if they tried to refit this room Bed and pillows were uncomfortable we both hardly slept and room was hot My husband had fish and chips, peas were stone cold! told staff and could of had replacement but already started to eat before staff become available to tell them, would of liked the offer of money off the bill but no offer was made. other people were complaining of the food but not informing the staff (British stereotype) maybe introduce a survey at breakfast as people don't like to complain but not everything is ok with the food here. apart from this would come again if they work on the food

The location, the building and the gardens

Lovely location and building and the staff were pleasant enough but did not seem to know quite what to do with me as a solo female traveller (NB: this is a review by Mrs P). Issues were minor but noticeable eg I was on the top floor (no lift) but was offered no assistance with my baggage. Not a huge deal until I overheard the offer being made to others. Similarly, I booked an additional dinner and breakfast but was not told where to go or how the service worked for either and had to ask both times. The contrast with the treatment of the four males at the next breakfast table was, let us say, rather obvious.

The Castle enjoys a superb location at the top of the hill in Bishop's Castle, offering both charm and convenience. In every aspect, the hotel is excellent. The evening meals stand out with a diverse and extensive menu that goes beyond the usual offerings. A large selection of beers and wines caters to all tastes, adding to the overall experience. The Hotel is well used by locals and travellers testifying to its success. The owners have run the hotel for over 15 years and we have visited numerous times and have never left dissapointed. The staff are exceptionally friendly and attentive, ensuring everything runs smoothly and that any concerns are promptly addressed. The hotel also boasts a stunning garden with magnificent views overlooking the town—a perfect spot to relax and take in the scenery.
