The Poppy House

Convenient location for our Shropshire Way walk.

The quirkyness of the room. Character with beams. It was big and airy. Fresh milk in refrigerator. Good link with Bishop Castle Hotel for parking and good meals. Staff in the Hotel were very pleasant.

Poppies, not suitable for those who are unsteady on their feet. As in old properties the floors are uneven.

Clean comfortable and convenient

Breakfast was at the Castle Hotel, and was excellent. Parking was also at the Hotel and was fine. The B&B is now run by the Hotel and we basically had to check in at the Hotel where they showed us to Poppy House literally round the corner. Everything was straightforward. The B&B was going through the early stages of redecoration and renovation, this was explained - and it was the reason for breakfast being at the Hotel. The Cafe within the B7B was being decorated. It's a quaint old build as are all the buildings in the centre of Bishop's Castle.

The accommodation was as expected. One slight gripe was that with three of us in a family room, we had three showers in quick succession before going to the Hotel for an evening meal, and we ran out of hot water for the last shower (which was mine). The other gripe is with Booking.com. I booked the room but wanted breakfast as well, which I couldn't book through Booking.com, the staff sorted us out with breakfast which we paid for on check out at the Hotel, but I will avoid Booking.com if possible in future as we might have had ended up with an unfavourable breakfast time, and this is the latest of a few problems with Booking.com - most of which have been significantly more annoying.
