Highfield Guesthouse

Location was good just a short walk into town. Room very modern. Very quite. Very clean. Good host.

Our room was clean with comfy bed and linen. Clean towels and toiletries.

There is only enough room for two cars on the private car park. The first night a work a van parked right across the two cars. It was gone early next morning. It belonged to workers staying a couple of houses down. There is free parking across the road behind the streets. Not enough plugs. Overall everything OK.

A few minutes walk to town centre, nice cosy room, lovely decor and a lovely lady host who couldn’t do enough to help and assisted with recommending cafes, bars and restaurants. Plenty of space to put your clothes and belongings which can often be sparse. Would definitely stay there again.

There’s nothing I could say that I didn’t like as everything was adequate for a couple of nights stay.

Location is central. Right next to Tesco petrol station so if you have the windows open ( which you have to ) it’s noisy

Very very hot. I know it’s a heatwave but close the curtains maybe? It was noisy as next to Tesco petrol station. The towels didn’t smell fresh so I just used a hand towel. The bed linen also didn’t smell fresh. I think the duvet and pillows need a proper clean. The bed linen was clean but the actual duvet and pillow - it smelt musty and well used and it put me off so I slept without the duvet on me. Smelt like a teenagers bed if that makes any sense. I messaged the hotel to check in early and no response so I walked up only to find they had gone out so I had to walk back into town and find a co working space to use to have a work meeting. Free toiletries comprised of soap… sink in bathroom gurgled a lot randomly and spiked water up through the plug hole and over the sink which was strange so I put the plug in to try and stop it. No one about to report any of this to. I would not stay there again and certainly not for the £99 it cost me. I stay in a lot of hotels/ b and bs with work and all I want is a clean room and a goods night sleep but this didn’t give me that.
