The Cooks Oasis

The room was clean and tidy. Fruit basket on arrival was nice and it was good to have drinking water from the tap. It’s a very short stroll to the beach and a short walk along the beach to black rock for great snorkelling and whale watching.

We arranged to arrive at 3am and were told the property would be open but it was locked. We spent some time trying to figure out how to get in but had to call the property manager who had to travel from home to let us in. The extra 30-40mins spent faffing and waiting was tough going at that time of night and the owner wasn’t particularly apologetic. When we finally got in there were many mosquitoes inside who ate us alive in the night. We were given bug spray in the morning and got rid of them. Again the owner didn’t seem to care too much. It was the worst place we stayed on the island for cockerel noise. About 4 cockerels seemed to hang out right outside our window. There were signs to say no smoking but people smoked in a communal area right by our outdoor area so it was unusable for us.

The property was quiet and the unit had everything we needed to prepare our own meals . The owner on site was extremely helpful. The unit had aircon which we didn’t need to use as the ceiling fans in the bedrooms worked very well.Its a great location being close to many fine restaurants and Avarua township and has access to a lovely beach,

The unit we were in was under another unit ,and with wooden floors , the heavy footsteps of the family staying above ( they were walking in bare feet) was very disruptive at night. We raised this with the owner who made a point of asking future guests above us to walk in soft shoes or slippers We had no further problem from that point , problem solved.Its also important to point out that most of the villas here do not have another unit located above them so the issue never arises

Location spacious great booking organisation

It was close to the airport and spacious. The beds were sooooo comfy!

It was very overpriced for what we got. The pool wasn’t heated so couldn’t take our 1yr old in it as it was super cold and so was the beach. The beaches on this side arnt very nice. Very rocky etc. A lot of things like the dishwasher, safe etc all didnt work. The two rooms are only separated by a wall that doesn’t go to the ceiling so you can hear everything that is happening in the other room. We got this thinking it was a proper 2 bedroom unit because our baby cries a lot during the night and wanted a seperate room so it wouldn’t wake my mother. We paid over $650 a night for our room.
