Delightful country house in beautiful Scotland

Cardhu House - a beautiful stay in the Scottish Highlands

Location was just lovely! Colin and Sarah could not have been more helpful. The rooms were very well appointed and the en-suite facilities were great too. Breakfast in the morning was a real highlight - especially the porridge made from whisky soaked oats!

Our lovely rooms were on the second floor at the top of the house, which wasn't ideal for my older parents as they struggled a bit with the stairs - on reflection I should have checked that their room would not require more than one flight of stairs to reach.

Wonderful Stay in Speyside

We had a wonderful stay! The location is perfect—close to all the Speyside attractions yet tucked away in a peaceful rural setting. Our host was wonderful, so welcoming and full of great tips for places to eat, beautiful walks, and of course, whisky tastings. The country house itself is stunning, with beautifully appointed and spacious rooms that had everything we needed. The meals were a highlight, featuring fresh, local ingredients prepared to perfection. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a memorable stay in Speyside!

Stopped at the property after a nearby distillery visit and thoroughly enjoyed the stop

Location was lovely. Colin was an excellent host. Room was excellent. As was breakfast.

Lack of in house dining on the night we visited meant a £50 return taxi for our evening meal. Thus was not obvious to us at the time of booking.

The Host Colin was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was delicious as was dinner. The grounds were lovely with lots of walks nearby.

We missed out on a whiskey tour but that was bad planning on my part. More info on local tastings and tours maybe.

Luxury without pretension

Everything! A beautiful home in a calm, secluded area. From the moment we arrived, we felt at home here. A warm welcome from Colin, a delicious dinner of locally sourced and homemade food, a large room with so many nice touches, and a hearty breakfast (ohhh that whisky porridge!). Luxury without pretension. Perfect!

Highlight of our vacation!

The house is very comfortable, location is perfect. The bathrobes in the bathroom were a great touch. Shower was nice and strong. We were welcomed by Collin and unfortunately we were not able to have dinner at the location, however we were sent to a friend at the 1881 restaurant and that was very nice. Breakfast the next morning was delicious, with plenty of choices.

Unfortunately we couldn’t stay another night, because all rooms were booked. We will come back next year!

Simply exceptional!

Every detail is thought and taken care of! We stayed with my family for one night during our roadtrip to Scotland. Starting with the location in the middle of the countryside, the house is beautiful and very stylishly decorated. The rooms are very spacious and the view of the countryside out of the windows very relaxing. They are impeccably clean with very comfortable beds and fresh smelling towels. Our breakfast was superb! Colin, the owner, was very accommodating and helpful. We will certainly recommend Cardhu Country House to our friends and we will return for a longer stay!

Absolutely delightful

The communication before we arrived was great. When we arrived the owner, Colin was there to greet us and to explain a few things about keys and breakfast. The building is impressive both outside and in. Built in the 1880s, used as a manse and then owned by a well-known family before the current owners' family acquired it. It is clear that there has been a lot of attention paid to this country house. The rooms are spacious and well decorated and furnished with lovely period furniture. It blends the old with the new in a magical way. The bedrooms are equally tasteful - large comfortable beds, fluffy pillows and crisp white linen. Tea and coffee making facilities with quality shortbread. Big windows with shuttering. It was wonderful. The bathroom was very well done. A huge walk in shower, a drench shower head, lovely shower gel and shampoo and plenty towels. Breakfast was beautifully done. Amongst our group we had the compote / yoghurt / granola to start and then various of us had scrambled eggs with smoked salmon, full Scottish breakfast and so on. Quality ingredients and very well presented. In the early evening we sat outside by the lawns and later on came in to the lounge. They do not sell alcohol but we were allowed to bring our own and Colin very kindly provided glassware and ice. This is a truly superb place to visit. I cannot wait to come again. Thank you.

Everything. Really Quiet, cosy. We felt we were friends with the owner Colin. For a non British couple, His English is perfectly understandable with no strong Scottish accent as it could be in this Scotland’s countryside. MUST GO if you visit the region

Great short stay, wish we had been staying for a long weekend.

Great place, staff were very accommodating and friendly. Fruit compote and full breakfast was amazing with every item on the plate bursting with flavour. We didn't have time to have dinner at the Cardhu but all the locals we spoke to on our trip mentioned it with praise. Next time as we will book again when we are in the area.

Charming Scottish house .You are greeted by Connor a very friendly host .You are automatically welcomed. Comfortable well appointed rooms .One of the most comfortable beds we slept in our entire trip . Had dinner and breakfast in the lovely dining room with a warm fire burning . Food was delicious from local suppliers . Small and intimate where you chat with your fellow travelers and share our journeys and tips . We enjoyed our stay .

The house was exceptionally clean. The room was lovely with a great view. Everything that we needed was in the room, including bath robes. The grounds were lovely with nice areas to sit outside. The owner was exceptionally helpful, we asked if their was a taxi company that would take us into Aberdpur, he made the call and although it was exceptionally busy due to the whisky festival, he got us a taxi. The breakfast was lovely and fresh and plenty of it, food was excellent. We’ll certainly be back!

Warm welcome in beautiful Speyside BnB

Beautifully renovated country house in the middle of the Speyside countryside! Our room was beautiful and comfortable. Our hosts were lovely and very accommodating. They were knowledgeable about the region and gave us great walk/hike recommendations in the Cairngorms! Delicious homemade breakfast. Although it's optional, I recommend making a reservation for dinner there: our hosts offer dinner options made with local products, which is a nice change from pub food. We will come back for sure!

The perfect vacation

It has been wonderful experience here at the Cardhu Country House. We came for one night and enjoyed the best facilities in the region. The bedrooms are very big, the shower room is huge and comfortable and the food is delicious. We arrived late at night to check in and were welcomed in the warmest possible way. Colin is the most welcoming host ever, always concerned that everything was ok with us, and we appreciated that very much. The stay was short but very comfortable and relaxing. The countryside surroundings are absolutely enchanting. The homemade breakfast was delicious, and once again Colin and his wife went out of their way to accommodate our requests. If one day we return to Scotland we would like to repeat the stay, but longer if possible. Couldn't recommend a stay at Cardhu Country House more highly!!
