Grounds and setting in general are really gorgeous. Refillable bottles for water with many stations onsite. Staff were excellent - especially William at breakfast and another waiter beginning with R (Reginald? Ronald?). Rom was good size, very comfortable, nicely decorated. WhatsApp communications for concierge very convenient.

Food was only ok, menu is small. At breakfast only brewed coffee included (others are chargeable extra). We had a baby in stroller and were put in a room upstairs with no lift (apparently no room in our category available on ground floor but someone could have messaged to let us know and we could have changed category).

Ana y Jose Tulum is a beautiful hotel and visually deserves 5 stars. The tropical atmosphere, stunning bungalows, well-maintained grounds, and overall aesthetic are truly impressive. The beachfront location is excellent, and the breakfast was tasty. The property has a luxurious feel and captures the unique Tulum vibe perfectly.

Unfortunately, our standard room was located across the street in a separate building (with only two rooms), which felt very different from the main property with the beautiful bungalows. The room was facing the street, and it was very noisy – every passing car could be clearly heard, which made it difficult to sleep. Additionally, there was no mirror in the room, which is surprising for a hotel of this category. We also experienced an uncomfortable situation at breakfast. Although breakfast was included, after we finished and were walking back to our room, a waiter ran after us with a bill (showing 0 balance) to sign and informed us that service was not included, implying that a tip was expected. It felt pushy and inappropriate. At check-in, despite having fully prepaid the room, we were asked to pay a 2000 pesos deposit. This was not mentioned at the time of booking. We were also told that they needed a credit card to block the amount, which we do not have. The whole situation felt unclear and unprofessional.

Location was beautiful and the included breakfast was excellent. The wait staff was also extremely friendly and attentive. The menu was somewhat limited but excellent in all respects including seafood.

Nothing not to like about this resort.

The only good thing here was the food.

As someone who travels a lot, this has to be one of the most disappointing places I’ve ever stayed. The rooms didn’t look as advertised at all, the bathroom had no door. The bath was just ridiculous. The so called continental breakfast was just bread, butter and orange juice, we had to pay for eggs, sausages and bacon. To think that I spent about $1700 for 3 nights to get this experience still haunts me. Way overpriced in my opinion.
