Sea Palace Hotel - near Gateway of India

Locatie was great, staff very nice. Breakfast simple but fine and enough.

The room was not really clean and in the four nights I was there no-one came to clean the room ( take the rubbish) or refill the water etc. I didn’t question it at the time and bought my one toiletpaper and water.

Location good. Great breakfast. Comfortable beds. The guy in the breakfast room was very friendly. A charachter. And the staff on the door security were very good too.

Since we got back I’ve had a query from booking.com to say they say we didn’t turn up for the extra night we booked. But we did because we stayed that extra night added on to our original 4 night booking in order to keep the room before checking out at 9pm to get to the airport for our flight. Now worries me that it’s some sort of scam. Maybe it’s because the communication with the reception desk was very difficult. The cleaning of the rooms doesn’t happen unless you ask which is a poor system for hotel guests.

My room (sea view) is large enough but looks a bit rundown. The bathroom is nice, however as I was staying on the 1st floor I almost never had hot water to shower (the geyser is located on the roof terrace) and that was rather annoying especially as I stayed at the hotel for over a week. The room has AC and a fan. Only the lady at the reception is very efficient. The breakfast is basic. The restaurant on the rooftop terrace is highly recommended, large portions (can be shared) and the food is very taste. The location is great, however the room is a bit expensive

I regret that there was no hot water in the shower.

The lady at the reception looked like she is being forced to work there. No greeting, far from pleasant and friendly. The room wasnt clean when we arrived. There was no toilet paper and shower gel. I had to call the desk twice to get these items. Wont be coming back at all.
