Valentine Stay

Great location. Great breakfast. Sjef made us a very delicious omelet. The manager (Dirk) made our short stay very homely. We really enjoyed our stay and will return.

Friendly seaside guest house.

The host, Dirk, was very attentive and very helpful. The bedroom had a seaview, was spacious, well equipped, very clean and the bathroom had a roomy shower. There were facilities to bring food in to eat, dishes and crockery provided, also fresh water available. Breakfast was plentiful, cereals, fruit, yogurt and a hot choice every day as well as toast, butter jams etc. Lovely coffee from the machine too. Lots of small chill out areas around the guest house as well as a pool and 2 covered terrace areas. About a 15 minute walk to many bars, restaurants and shops although booking is recommended at restaurants at the weekend as the town is busy Saturday and Sunday. The beach is just around the corner and stretches for several kilometres so very popular for locals walking their dogs. A great way to work off the big breakfast.

Nothing not to like although the staircase to the upper bedrooms could pose a problem for people with mobility issues

Absolutely stunning view. Pool area is beautiful day and lit up at night. Pity it was a bit chilly, would have loved a night swim. Sandcastle is a beautiful venue.

Ample space. LOVED the kitchenette area that was serving the 3 rooms on the 2nd floor. Sea view, smell of ocean, pool area super nice and comfy. Blessed to have been able to enjoy The Sand Castle.

Beautiful oasis with pool close to beach

The location was perfect, very close to the beach and we also had a choice of just relaxing and enjoying the pool. The pool oasis was a delight, very beautiful. Our room was at the ground floor so easy access to the pool. We had access to the kitchen and all levels of the guest house and could enjoyed the view of the sunset.

Lol, we had coffee and tea facility in the room but noticed that the person that cleaned room might have used the same cloth or used Mr min or some cleaning chemicals to wipe the or shine the cups and water glasses. Not 100% but when returning from the beach my husband wanted to use a glass for water and noticed this.

Comfortable bed, beautiful view, the sound of waves, swimming pool, corners inside the Sandcastle where one can relax as well as delicious breakfast!

It was dampended by the fuss, so overall very average. I would not go back there though.

The property staff are generally nice, the property is clean and the beds are comfortable.

I did not like that when I had issues, the manager of the place took the perspective that I was the problem. First of all my room did not have hot water and he tried to blame it on the times I was looking to shower (saying the hot water is available between 4am and 10am) but even when I was trying to shower around those times, it wasn't hot. It then came out that he switches the water off on his phone and had kept the hot water in our room off. The Aircon also wasn't functioning properly, though they ended up sorting that out, the condescending tone taken when I brought it up was not appreciated. I would still recommend the place, but would advise checking all facilities properly when signing in

Comfortable with a sea view!

We needed an overnight for my family and everything worked perfectly for us! The personal attention on arrival and departure was really appreciated. We were a block from the beach and had a lovely long walk at sundown. There was a comfortable space for us to sit and eat our dinner as a family. The communal space had good facilities for meal prep. Beds were comfy and lovely shower!

Quite overpriced for what you get.

Good location.

Overlooking balconies and windows of neighboring homes, was a bit strange and the blinds don’t effectively block light. Solar geysers meant not very warm showers in the morning! And no floor rugs or carpets, so quite chilly in winter.

Bright and inviting Bed & Breakfast with adequate room

The staff were lovely, the house is great, location is excellent. Rooms have a nice feeling and the outside area is lovely.

My bedding wasn't ideal for winter. The duvet was very thin and even with the thick blanket on the bed, it wasn't enough without having to put the Aircon on to warm which isn't ideal. The dressing table should be replaced (very worn). It's definitely better for summer, this house. For groups wanting to spend time inside at the house, perhaps focusing a little more detail (more colour, chairs placed opposite the couch so conversation is easier) on the upstairs lounge area is a good idea. Otherwise it was a nice stay. Thank you.

I stayed at the guesthouse twice in two weeks and would recommend it for location and price

The property is in a great location and quiet. The view from upstairs is great and there are comfortable spaces to sit and enjoy the view. Having a bar fridge and access to a microwave and water unit is a great plus.

The stairs to the upstairs units are very difficult to manage and I would not suggest an upstairs unit for anyone who battles to climb stairs. This information should be shared when guests book any of the upstairs units.

Lovely stay!

Dirk, our host, was very caring and welcoming. The guesthouse was very close to the sea with views of the beach and the lovely sound of the waves.

Parking was off-street, but not inside the establishment. However, it was very safe.

Melkbos with a view!

The seaview room was great. Nice and spacious. They have a kitchen that you can use when you want to eat something on the first floor. Linnen towels and soap/ shampoo/ conditioner- great products. They offer breakfast at an additional cost. Aircon in the room.

We enjoyed the hospitality of the personnel and the rooms were spacious and always so clean. We felt at home! The location of the guesthouse is very central in Melkbosstrand and walking distance from the beach. The guesthouse is also very well laid out and beautiful decorated.
