Lovely hotel in the heart of Salcombe. Food was delicious too

We spent a couple of days in picturesque Salcombe for a wedding. Hotel staff were friendly and always keen to help. We had a treatment in the spa which was wonderful, Beth made us feel welcome and very relaxed. I would highly recommend the body scrub and wrap. The Jetty restaurant and roof terrace is a must is the weather is sunny, the BLT is a must. The views are stunning.

We were really looking forward to a stay at the Harbour Hotel after hearing such glowing recommendations from friends a few years back. Unfortunately, our experience didn’t live up to the hype. When we arrived, it was immediately apparent that the room hadn’t been properly cleaned—despite the bed being made, it was covered in dog hair. The bedside tables were grimy, and the carpet hadn’t been vacuumed. After addressing these issues with reception, we received a lukewarm response; there was little urgency or sincere apology, just a vague promise to send cleaners around shortly.
Although the cleaners eventually returned and did a more thorough job, several minor details were still overlooked, such as restocking the mini fridge with tonic and ensuring the glasses were clean. Given the high room rate and our expectations, we were very disappointed by the apparent lack of attention to detail. This was especially disheartening because the location is lovely and has the potential to offer a great experience.
One final note we later discovered that a hot English breakfast wasn’t included in the room rate—a detail that felt rather misleading considering the nightly cost and general vibe as an upmarket hotel.
overall it was a disappointing stay which is a great shame as pool and location are fantastic.
