We are familiar with this hotel as we have stayed there previously and that's why we rebooked again. Receptionist was excellent on the day we arrived who let's us check in before thier usual time. This helped us to do our umrah quicky. Other staff were excellent too including room service, Customer Support officer was excellent.

Prayer facility still not available for both men and women linked with Haraam Sharif speakers in hotel masjid from our last visit. Also, due to noise increase due to bus station in front of the hotel. Windows needs to be sound proof as you find difficult to sleep if your room is at the front of the hotel. Customer support explained this work is planned in the near future.

Excellent food quality and variety at breakfast, location good let down by everything else

If you're from the UK don't book this hotel, it's old and tired, things don't work and staff are blatantly rude (a few were lovely but overall staff attitude was poor). Bathroom not clean, extremely dirty despite daily cleaning, dirty black mirror, flush not working, no hot water. I travelled with my 83 year old grandmother and she is currently unwell due to the lack of hot water. Restaurant food was really good but let down by staff who would rush you and were often rude. Another thing I noticed when arriving at breakfast the guy at the door always asked for our room number which is fine but on occasions an Arab family would be in front of us and he would smile and not ask a single question whereas with us being Asian he would immediately stop us and ask our room number. I booked a city view room and we received a view of the inner courtyard of the hotel, nothing city view about that. I received a phone call on our second to last day from guest relations asking about our experience hence I am writing this review. I went to speak with Mr Khaled at reception, his English is not good so we relied on a staff member who spoke urdu to translate for us. His response was nothing but sorry we will do better next time. There won't be a next time, good luck with that. He offered us our room to be cleaned before fajr on the day of checkout to which I said what's the point we leave in a few hours. No offer of compensation, forget financial not even as courtesy for a future discount on a future booking, nothing. Whilst I was speaking to Khaled another hotel customer came up to the desk making similar complaints about room cleanliness. . Staff are only half invested in this hotel, they do the bare minimum but definitely don't go the extra mile. Do yourself a favour, book somewhere else. Al Shohada Hotel, you definitely made me shaheed with my experience. Change things or stop calling yourself 5 star. Room 967
