We stayed at The Amala Boutique Retreat for 4 nights in a honeymoon suite with a private pool (bed and breakfast) and had a wonderful experience. The staff were incredibly warm, kind, and attentive, making us feel truly welcome from check-in to check-out. The accommodation is peaceful, beautifully maintained, and thoughtfully designed with great attention to detail. We loved the daily morning messages with Balinese words and meanings, as well as the hotel’s focus on environmental care. Bamboo Restaurant offers delicious food with friendly, professional service, and the wellness center is excellent – the massages were truly outstanding. The hotel also helped us organize excursions and provided a fantastic driver, Hendra, who was very kind, professional, and reliable. We would like to sincerely thank the entire team for making our stay so special, and we would happily return.

Amazing stay at Amala Retreat! 10/10 would stay again

Firstly the staff are incredible - so kind and helpful. Second, the breakfast was 10/10. You get three courses and two drinks, and the food is delicious. I especially liked the pancakes and wellness bowls. If I could have this breakfast every day for the rest of my life, I would be very happy! And third, of course the rooms were great too. I also liked the optional yoga & breathwork sessions. Really great sessions

The ONLY thing was the sound of the frogs at night (apparently it is only after a rainstorm). It sounds crazy but they were so loud that we thought it was an alarm to evacuate the hotel 😂 but I understand we are in a jungle environment so it is just natural

Loved this place—beautiful private villa, super friendly staff, and such a relaxing stay.

I stayed at The Amala Boutique Retreat Villa in Seminyak, and I absolutely loved it. The whole place felt peaceful, private, and beautifully designed. My villa even had its own pool, which made the experience extra relaxing. The staff were super nice, always smiling, and ready to help with anything I needed. They greeted me with a refresher drink, and I also received a free one-hour spa treatment—such a perfect welcome and the best way to start my stay. Breakfast by the pool was a dream, and the location made it easy to explore Seminyak while still having a quiet, cozy place to come back to. If you’re looking for somewhere luxurious, relaxing, and full of warm hospitality, The Amala truly feels like a little paradise in the middle of Bali.

Amazing place for honymoon

We stayed for 4 nights in the amala when we first came for check in our wonderful butler marveela upgraded us to a bigger villa , it was exceptional we loved everything ,location is close to seminyak village Staff are very friendly and helpful. The villa amazing with very nice pool .

There is some small lizards in the outdoor kitchen area but the staff responded very well

spa services were amazing inc a complimentary 15 min massage which could be upgraded. Sound therapy was out of this world as was the massages. Breakfast was perfect

shared pool area was small and the 2 loungers were not in the sun so sunbathing was impossible but not too far to walk to the beach. Going outside to the toilet and shower and getting eaten alive by mossies

Blissful stop-over

The staff & facilities provided were excellent - from almost every conceivable convenience in the room, to the amazing breakfast menu to being able to utilise a guest shower area late in the day due to our late flight. A beautiful setting.

Our room was on the left-hand side (walking in) so was unfortunately exposed to a little more road noise than would have been ideal.

The standards are extremely high in everything they do from there communication to guests ,food, spa . This is a team achievement making this hotel very desirable, it has a family run vibe with ongoing attention to the guest experience. Fabulous hotel. Highly recommended

Wonderful team of villa members that made us feel like home. Good selection of breakfast menu, wonderful cookie at the front desk.

Pillow thickness and hardness did suit me. Bathroom at the common area has foul smell, and its water pressure is insufficient. A few areas are starting to feel tired.

a dream vacation

stayed here for one week and it had been the most relaxing week of my life. the villas are beautiful, the food is great, and the staff always go above and beyond to keep you comfortable. the wellness centre offers spa treatments for good prices and the restaurant food menu is extensive. you’ll never get sick of breakfast because there’s so many choices to choose from! the floating brunch is also a must-try. the location is perfect, and close to many marts and restaurants, and starbucks is only a five minute walk away. the perfect place to stay for a dream vacation, i wouldn’t recommend to stay anywhere else in seminyak!

A quiet & beautiful space

We loved the villa - it was gorgeous, spacious, clean and beautiuful. The beds were very comfortable and we all enjoyed our stay there. OUr family said it was the nicest villa we have stayed in. The grounds of the whole retreat are absolutely stunning too. So beautiful. The gardens and all the areas of the whole place are obviosuly well cared for. Pools are clean too. Staff were all very friendly and couldn't do enough for you.

We didn't rate their restaurant. After a big day of travel to get to Seminyak, we decided to just stay at the villa and eat in the restaurant. Although the restaurant looked lovely and the service was great, the actual food was a let down. It also wasn't cheap and we were disappointed that we had chosen to eat here. There was no one else eating dinner in the restaurant that night either....maybe that should have given us a heads up. In saying this, they were lovely and brought out a cake for my husband's birthday to surprise him after dinner and the setting around the pool was divine....just the actual food was average, especially with so many amazing restaurants in Seminyak that we could have chosen to eat at.

Good location. Well maintained with security , well attended by staff . Spa was reasonably priced with good facilities. 3 bedroom villa was large with good house keeping and support is prompt, in Villa breakfast is highlight . Overall courteous staff

Looks like the villa would do with a in house hotel manager with discretion. Staff seem to follow rule book with cookie cutter answers without looking to provide solutions , can be defensive when breakfast orders are incorrect. Shower and water pressure was disappointing for a villa of that class. They need to reconfigure the water pipes which flow from the ground upwards rather than the from top. Thus pressure is weak. Pity. Otherwise overall the estate is well maintained

We joined Dewa in pool pilates and the sound healing ,which was above all expectations 😀 and is worth the stay alone. Everyone was super friendly, helpful and very approachable. We will definitely be returning to the Amala. x Mark and Tracey

Everything was perfect! Amazing staff. The room was excellent with a semi-outdoor shower and toilet. I had a studio room. When I was sitting by the pool they brought me random complimentary snacks. Like a fruitsatay. Also they take notes for all guests so they know exactly what your preferences are. Absolutely brilliant!! For me this is what perfect stay looks like! And the breakfast. My god this was top tier food and all made on the spot. Thank you and I will come here again for sure.

Perfect place for a retreat

The garden villa we stayed at was a little oasis in the middle of Seminyak It was quiet, calm, cozy and really relaxing. We enjoyed so much our villa’s facilities. The spa service is a must. I would be back again in the future.

The property was clean, well kept and very beautiful. So traditional and exactly what we were looking for. The staff was exceptionally welcoming and accommodating to all our needs. The bed was so comfortable that we overslept with 4 hours. Lots of special touches made it even better

Great property with outstanding breakfast, shockingly poor service upon arrival.

1. Breakfast is outstanding and the staff serving from the restaurant is really friendly and helpful. Whatever we needed in the villa was provided for. 2. The Villa was beautiful and spacious. Nestled amongst nature while still being in the centre of Seminyak was great. 3. The service staff - was very friendly, always trying to help.

First impression at reception on service quality was very very poor. After having paid the full amount at the time of booking only, the hotel refused entry to me and my family quoting that unless i paid for extra beds (which I never asked for), they won’t let me check in. Even after telling them that my child was sick and just let us check in and then I will come back to clear all confusion, they out rightly refused. This is the worst service I have received at reception at any hotel. Finally after they removed the extra bed and let us check in - they did try to make up, but the damage was done. Outside of this issue - even in the villa there were lots of niggles at various times during our stay (though the hotel did try to attend to it with urgency): AC not cooling properly, light switches stopped working, 1 chair broke as soon as a family member sat on it, gas stove was not working properly, one of the rooms was very poorly lit with 1-2 lights not working and that couldn’t be solved during our stay.

Overall we liked it but it should be three stars hotel not a five star one

I went with my family, I have 2 children and they were treated amazingly by the staff, the staff was one thing, they were very nice and understanding of our needs. We got a 15-minute free massage done by professionals, and we wish it never ended. our breakfast came accordingly as ordered and was good, we requested all halal food and they went by that well, they also have a free shuttle to take you around the area which was very handy for our family. We like the way the room is laid out, it also has a good sized TV. overall it was nice

The furniture was old, and the bathroom was dirty, it suits a 3-star hotel, not a 5-star one, we were skeptical about the open bathroom situation, and my kids needed one of us in there to make sure there were no insects in there. In general, it was overpriced for a 5-star hotel.
