Location was fine for what we needed it for. Staff friendly.
Shocking cleanliness. Mould in the bathroom. Shower head adjustments very sporadic.

The food was good, bed was comfortable and the staff were lovely. The grounds were impressive too. Convenient to go into Sheffield but in a quiet rural setting.

The wedding and facilities were spot on. The food was really good, the pizzas at night were great, and the wait wasn't long.
The room was clean, and it was great being on the ground floor.
It was lovely and quiet.
Breakfast was lovely
I think that the room was a little small for the price, but it did include breakfast.
There were some cobwebs on the ceiling to the right of the bedhead

Very friendly helpfull staff on reception, bar & dinning room - an issue was resolved by lovley lady on reception who moved us to another room in quieter part of the hotel - it was so much appreciated.
Noise in corridors & transmitting from next door/close by rooms from other guests

Staff did try to find alternative room quickly once we complained about the initial accomodation
The first room offered was too small, the divan bed base was broken, only 1 if 3 lights were working.
The replacement room was filthy, it smelled like wet dogs, there was a large wet stain on the carpet, the bathroom was also very dirty, old dirty bit the kind you can just wipe clean, built in deep dirt. The lady at breakfast was rude and the food was poor quality and not restocked.
This was an expensive stay and it honestly doesn't compare to a travek Lodge or days inn. Save your money and stay somewhere else.

The general decor appears “tired” and in need of updating. The bed was really soft and new mattress needed. Staff were pleasant. Place was clean
Breakfast was good
The restaurant evening meal was poor - this needs a complete overall in regards to menu, food quality, environment

We stayed in the Robert Suite which was both large/roomy & extremely quiet, facilities in the room were very good, Tv/coffee maker , kettle & cold bottled water supplied. Massive 🛏️ which was a dream to sleep in . All required toiletries supplied, large walk-in shower albeit with a small screen, hence you do need to be aware of water leaking onto the bathroom floor.
Please be aware that to get to this suite involves a rather steep walk up narrow winding stairways .
The TV is fixed to the wall, hence it is very difficult to watch from the comfort of your bed. NO fridge in the room was an unusual non fixture for a suite of this stature.
We stayed on a room only basis due to visiting family elsewhere for Xmas, however, on leaving day we prompted for a light breakfast , I needn’t have bothered to be honest not realising that it would cost £32 for average tasting scrambled eggs with bacon and m6 wife have a small full English, over priced considerably in my opinion.

Very friendly staff and lovely warm welcoming bar area.
The room was cold and unheated upon arrival (December evening). It took a while to heat up and feel comfortable.

I was met by very friendly staff and check-in was quick and easy. The room was clean and comfortable and I had a good nights sleep.
Breakfast was a little bit of a let down. Nothing too major, bacon was over cooked and everything could have done with being a little warmer.

The grounds and the new rooms. Food tasty but small portions even for a small women. The common area are nice. The receptionist Amy .
I would have given this hotel a high score if I had stayed in the same room for both nights. I arrived in the dark after a long drive in stormy weather. There was no one on reception as all of the staff were gathering in the bar area. A man eventually came and gave me the briefest description of how to get to my room. He made no effort to help me with my cases etc. I went the wrong way meaning that I had to climb a step stairs case , which was not carpeted and was dirty. The door to my room was open and therefore I was very worried entering the room at night on my own. according to another member of staff it is common practice to leave doors open after cleaning. The room was very cold, I had to wear a jumper all night. The TV was old and the remote controls dirty and not working. The bathroom dirty and old, with a broken bath held together with brown paste. When i came back after work on the following day, the room had not been cleaned and therefore tea tray left with dirty cups etc. I was told that rooms were only serviced once every two days. I asked the receptionist about the TV and lack of heat and she came with me to the room. What a difference this girl AMY was to the unhelpful member of staff the night before. She moved me to another room. The new room was newly refurnished, clean modern, comfortable and heated! I asked if this was an upgrade, she said no, just the normal standard of the rooms that had been done. I actually think it is a disgrace that this hotel is prepared to put people in the old cold rooms with no regard for their welfare. I would stay at this hotel again but only if i could be assured that I would not be shoved into one of the old cold rooms and that all staff members are trained so that they understand customer service.

Lovely looking property from the first impression. The wedding venue was very nice. Staff seemed nice and helpful. Room generally clean, but very basic.
Bed was awful, so soft it just sank when lay on, as soon as we walked in it was obvious it was not good. Bath/shower combo was odd as shower screen wouldn’t open out of the bath to allow easier access to the taps. Walls very thin so could hear everything from next door rooms and corridors.

The out side of the building and location
The out side was beautiful. The inside felt dark and damp. Spiderd and cobwebs with flys all over. Every windows on our floor was open and the corridors was beyond cold during a time when storm Amy hit. I had paid for an executive room and it was not as displayed on the website and was informed those pictures were old

Nice location, lovely bar setting overlooking grounds.
A bit dated in the rooms, marks on wall and insects in bathroom. Could do with a revamp.

I had arrived with almost nothing, as I hadn’t planned a stay, but had gone to see my mum in hospital. The staff had everything I asked for, and were incredibly kind and accomodating. And breakfast was delicious, everything I could have wanted

room was large and comfy with a disabled wet room which I didn't mind. Beds much too close together, so altered the layout by moving bedside tables. Outside is very nice, lovely building and some fine trees. All good.
Breakfast was poor value, £15 for buffet-style food which was of Premier Inn standard, and they only charge £10.95. Having said that, there was plenty on offer, and the option to purchase off the menu.

The location.
We stayed here over 10 years ago for a wedding and nothing has changed. The room decor and beds are tired. Everything creaked. Bathroom tiles and bath surround showed black mould marks. The wall sockets didn't have USB charging, so we couldn't charge our phones.

Loved the old parts of the Hall especially the garden room for breakfast, light airy bar area in a new conservatory . Natalie on reception was an absolute star, she managed to change our booking into a twin room and added on a dinner package. She also supplied a Apple charger which we had forgotten.
