The place is basically an Estate. Beautiful grounds, the owners run the business and are very friendly. Food was excellent. My room was very nice.

The quirkiness of the place, very tired and clearly needs an injection of cash but I quite liked the Fawlty Towers feel of the place on first impressions. The grounds were lovely, as was the friendliness of the FOH staff (although nobody stated their name so cannot tell you who they were). Breakfast was really good (Full English) - could have done with some fresh fruit and yogurt first, and juice in jugs to help myself, but not the end of the world.

The evening meal - ordered Prawn and Chili Linguine - tasted and looked like it had been made by a 12 year old for the first time, not a professional chef! There was too much pasta, chunks of uncooked onion, it lacked flavour and i had to ask for parmesan. Also the so called Greek Salad had briny wet olives thrown on top and was swimming in balsamic. Sadly, nobody asked me how it was so i never got the chance to give feedback on site. The staff having a cigarette right outside the front door (including the chef) did seem a little unprofessional and unhygienic. The shower was like being spat on by a frog, the shower curtain was mouldy and the TV didn't work on terrestrial (she did say there was a problem with the aerial). I feel bad saying all this, but i do feel the whole place could benefit from a visit from the lovely Alex Polizzi to give them much needed direction.
