Hôtel de Lille - Saint-Germain des Près

Airconditioning, bed comfort and shower were excellent.

Our original room was unsuitable (noisy and no bedhead) but the kindly changed us to another room. However, on the daily basis the reception staff were pleasant but completely disinterested in engaging with us or making us feel welcome. We had no introduction to the hotel and only found out about amenities by accident. Quite a surprise because the room amenities were very good.

Great location and great staff

The hotel had a lovely, welcoming lounge area. The location was fantastic, close to several premier museums, the Seine and many cafes and restaurants. The room was very modern, well appointed and ours had a lovely garden terrace to enjoy a cup of coffee or glass of wine. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful.

The room was tiny. I was told it was a standard size for a hotel in Paris. But we kept bumping into the glass side wall as there was little space between bed and glass wall. There is hardly any storage space. A little cupboard on top of the bar fridge meant that long coats couldn’t stand upright. I created some space for my partner by removing some of the books on the open shelves. No place to put handbags or folded sweaters. The bedside table is just a plank. It would for eg help if it had two drawers. The hooks for the bathrobe or towels were over the wc. One of the female staff not friendly at all. They had sent me a form to fill in about extras I wanted. We ticked the slippers but in fact they weren’t there. When I went down to reception she brushed the form off saying it was just a formality. I waited for her to find me a pair - she said they had run out of them and then fetched two pairs. My pair were both right flip flops. The gentleman at reception the following morning sorted this out. The lift is so tiny two people wearing rucksacks don’t fit in. My partner’s rucksack kept getting caught in the lift door so we decided to go up separately. The location is great which is why we went there again. The first time in March we had internet problems. This time WiFi connection was fine. If I were to return to this same hotel I would ask for a junior suite as the room we were allocated was claustrophobic.
