Beautiful quiet spa facilities, great service, luxurious room, excellent walks and location

Dinner was expensive for what it was

The whole experience is always fantastic at this hotel. The spa, staff, food and drinks are amazing. I always return to this hotel because it is simply one of the best!

Very comfortable and surrounding outside well worth visiting. Enjoyed the jacuzzi, swimming pool and sauna, plenty of towels etc

The golf short course was good but would suggest they show signs to the 1st hole which I could not find, so I started at the 2nd hole and they misdirected the 9th hole. Also the following day I tried to use the driving range but no info was given about obtaining golf balls. Usually golf ranges supply golf balls at small cost and then collected by staff. I feel sure this should be improved. It was a shame I was unable to use this facility.

All the staff were amazing and cold not do enough - the room was lovely and as it was our anniversary they left a card in the room and a bottle plus sweets. The breakfast was the best I have had in years.

The service/staff was the best I have ever experienced! The room was amazing! Food was exceptional! Both the indoor and outdoor pools were great for the kids.

It was a bit more expensive than I am used to. I am sure the current exchange rate did not help.

The hotel was luxurious in every way. The staff were most helpful and friendly. The food and drink was excellent.

The room although the walls are very thin and we were kept awake (in our £1420 a night room!) by a crying baby most of the first night. The staff are excellent The food is great. But expensive.

The new kid allocated swimming times. I have teenagers and they just want to swim but, instead, were only allowed in the children times which meant we were splashed and it was hardly a great experience. This needs to be reviewed. It just doesn’t work if you have kids who are closer to the adult bracket.

The service was excellent. It was quiet and location excellent. Bikes were a great idea.

I was a little surprised to see discretionary service charges on the room. Never in my travels have I paid more than the advertised price of the room. That was disappointing.

Hotel is very tired. Restaurant and lounge areas are very nice but rooms are extremely dated and tired.

Stayed in the Treehouses - nice little suite - good amenities - lovely hot tub - comfy bed - great bath and shower

Staff were super helpful and the hotel was exquisite. The decor was beautiful. They offer a dog menu which is a fantastic idea and the dogs loved it. Hotel is dog friendly and we felt at ease with the dogs during our stay. The dogs had their own beds, a toy each and a goodie bag, it was a nice touch and welcome.

The service was a bit hit and miss. Our orders were incorrectly delivered a number of times and part of the orders forgotten. This happened a number of times. Breakfast service was super slow and waiting 30 minutes for a coffee at breakfast is unnecessary. For the price I would expect consistently good service.

The breakfast service let them down . Two poached eggs on sourdough was just that …very badly presented no flourish to decorate and arrived 10 Minutes before the other breakfast. The tea and coffee we asked for 3 times was eventually brought when we both had finished breakfast almost an hour waiting time in all

Comfortable hotel with nice grounds & bed was very comfortable. Very good breakfast served in restaurant too.

Rooms were small for the money they charge, shower power was poor ( no bath) carpets were stained in bedroom which need thorough steam clean plus bedroom furniture old & scratched & was generally disappointed with whole mini break experience.

It takes a long time to get anyone to answer the phone, whether it is reception or room service. The staff are very willing but they appear to be understaffed. The food is mediocre at best and I would have expected a lot better from a five-star hotel

The location and surroundings were fabulous All the staff were really friendly and helpful The gym was good The breakfast was excellent with such a wide variety on offer

There could do with being some plug sockets near the bed that aren't used by kettles and coffee makers. There also isn't much shelf space in the bathroom for washbags and toiletries. Having a better mirror next to a usable plug socket, too, would be handy when drying hair, rather than having to work around the coffee maker and kettle!

breakfast good but not in the usual dining room so did not get the real feel of how it would be normally.

I did not carry out a full research when I initially booked but it was a splendid surprise. The grounds are amazing and my daughter loved it.

If I could paint a picture of the most perfect and beautiful country house hotel, this would be it! CG is a little piece of relaxing heaven with an elegant yet homely feel. My husband and I are regular visitors, we hosted our wedding reception here in 2019 and have since loved returning time and time again to kick back and immerse in luxury and the very finest hospitality. The staff here are 5* trained and competent, friendly and go above and beyond to make us feel welcome. We stayed in the Masterman Ready Suite which is a stunning! Spotlessly clean, fresh, well thought out little touches with guests’ comfort and convenience in mind. The roll top bath is big enough for two! We enjoyed sitting in it listening to music, eating sticky toffee pudding delivered by room service! The suite has such a comfortable bed and we benefitted from a sound sleep, to then wake up to the best breakfast we’ve ever enjoyed in any hotel… Ever! The spa is… just wow. One of the major attractions of this hotel. The hydrotherapy pool is lovely and the outdoor hot tub is a nice touch! One of our highlights was the poolside buffet which is super tasty and nutritionally balanced to promote good health. High quality ingredients and taste overload! The dishes are varied day to day. I could eat this buffet every day and not get bored of it. Big love to Georgia who is like a ray of sunshine dancing around the hotel! Thank you for always making us feel so special and valued! The setting was superb. The staff helpful.

The hydro spa could have ben cleaner. there was silt in the corners of the pool. The restaurant at breakfast was dreadful. The food was delicious but there was no management within the restaurant. The first morning we had to chase for service twice and the second morning we gave up after 15 minutes. We didn't even have cutlery on the table.

The hotel and grounds, plus location for running. Fantastic hydrotherapy facilities.

We loved everything about the property.

Breakfast was totally amazing.
