The facilities in the room provided everything that I required, such as coffee machine, kettle, hairdryer, safe, good quality linen, refrigerator and television. The staff were friendly and helped immediately with any requests. When I needed a taxi they had one at the door within one minute. There was room servicing and top up of tea/coffee etc, twice per day if required.

My room had no written information about the extra facilities the Hotel provided or how to operate all the appliances. There was a QR code for some information. Older people often prefer written information.

The location is fantastic, and the hotel has a lovely, classic British charm that’s hard to find in modern hotels. The bed was also comfortable.

- The shower was honestly one of the least comfortable I’ve experienced, and I’ve stayed in many hotels over the years. The shower head is fixed high on the wall, making it almost impossible to wash your body without getting your hair completely wet. It was also heavily affected by limescale, so the water sprayed in all directions rather than as a proper stream. The temperature was difficult to adjust, and having to stand in a very small bathtub with a shower curtain that constantly sticks to you made the whole experience quite unpleasant. I understand the bathroom is designed to match the vintage style of the hotel, but the fixtures should still be modern, practical, and well maintained. - The sink was clogged, and the hot water from the tap was not working. - The room gets quite stuffy at night without proper ventilation. - The coffee machine was broken. - There aren’t enough power sockets close to the bed. - The carpet in the room was quite dirty. As the hotel is carpeted throughout, this may not be ideal for guests with allergies. - There was no mini-bar/fridge in the room - It would be great to have a no-duvet option (just a sheet or light blanket) for the warmer summer nights.
