Good location

The location and check in was simple.

Our room had a sink that wouldn't drain, so we had to consult reception to move rooms. The wifi signal inside the room was very poor, which we needed as part of our stay.

Stayed at Stuart now 8 times over the last few years, and up to usual standards

Cleanliness of hotel and friendly staff

Few issues, evening menu limited , and not happy that the parking could only be paid for 24 hours not the weekend, forgot to pay for second day by a couple of hours as late getting up

Wonderful hotel, clean, friendly staff, great location....

Love this hotel, its basic and simple but always clean and comfortable, staff are excellent and very friendly.

The hair dryers in the rooms, no guard on back, pulled my hair in and knotted it up so badly I had to cut it off, but this also happened last time in a different room but not quite as bad... spoke to girls on reception and they were very helpful, I took the dryer down and they advised they would speak to management about getting all these older unguarded ones changed out for newer safer ones..... Also... smart tvs are so cheap these days it would be wonderful if smart tvs were in the rooms so visitors can sign into netflix ect....

Breakfast was good. Cooked fresh and plentiful. Location was great.

No heating put in the room prior to arrival. No toilet roll in the room at all and no phone to call reception to let them know , so used my mobile but no answer.

Great location, clean and comfortable

Amazing location and the price was unbeatable. Staff were lovely and room had everything we needed. Everything was clean and well presented. Only “complaint” was the second car park was right outside our window which was a little noisy but not a deal breaker!!

The area didn’t feel safe, there were dodgy characters hanging about leaving used sex toys and making drug deals. The hotel was very basic but we didn’t expect much.

Worth the stay

Did the job in providing accommodation for the night. Unlikely to use the hotel again.

Room was comfy and tidy. Lauren on the desk was excellent especially following an incident in the night, details below. The car park and payment system was very good and simple. Location and distance from city centre was good.

The rooms were tired looking and need improvement. One wall had seen the paint work "touched up" but in a different colour blue to the rest of the wall, very obvious. Made the room look very scruffy. Issue with security when another guest of the hotel was able to gain access to our room using his key card which was quite frightening.....especially at 01:30 in the morning. Needs an urgent and thorough review of door access and security procedures.

After trying other locations, the Stuart Hotel will always be our future first option.

Once again, price was the deciding factor and I wasn't expecting luxury. Nevertheless, the hotel was very pleasant and the staff , welcoming and helpful. Everything we required for a short stay in Derby.

We excluded the breakfast as we thought it a little too pricey. The young lads we place in this hotel are quite happy to get their fill on the short journey to college. (and they don't ask for reimbursement.) I would certainly reconsider if there was a cheaper option available.

After selling out to Tescos the money for refurbishments seems to have gone.

The property presents an appealing facade, benefiting from recent cosmetic enhancements to the communal areas, which provides a positive initial impression. However, this is significantly undermined by the compromised condition of the guest accommodation and dated amenities. In conclusion, while the hotel's location is highly advantageous, the cumulative deficiencies in room quality, maintenance, and the impractical parking policy require immediate attention from management.

The rooms exhibit considerable wear and tear. A central boiler system appears to have been decommissioned and replaced with inexpensive electric panel heaters. While functional, the temperature control on these units is unreliable, spontaneously defaulting to 25 degrees C, leading to periods of significant thermal discomfort. Furthermore, the soft furnishings, specifically the curtains, are visibly worn and unkempt, and the bathroom fittings are dated and clearly in need of refurbishment.Regarding the provided amenities, the bed itself was adequate, but the absence of a mattress protector is a notable oversight regarding hygiene standards. The quality of the pillows supplied was exceptionally poor. Additionally, the wardrobe unit is highly unconventional and lacking in functionality, having had its doors removed with some hinges still affixed. A minor, yet frustrating, service issue was encountered where the toilet tissue in the locked dispenser had been incorrectly installed by staff—specifically, the roll was reversed relative to the dispenser's mounting pins—rendering it impossible to dispense.Finally, the parking arrangements are exceptionally inconvenient. Despite the duration of the stay, the hotel car park (now managed by a private entity) only permits payment for a maximum of 24 hours at a time. This necessitates daily payment renewals via a highly inefficient mobile application, which severely detracted from the overall guest experience.

Glad it was for one night only

Staff were friendly and the cooked breakfast was nice.

Overall the hotel is dingy and shabby. The room bathroom was clean; I didn't check the mattress, sheets were clean. The window and curtains were marked with mold and the desk was tacky, the floor appeared clean but I wasn't comfortable with it.

Overpriced for a basic hotel.

For our needs, it was a great location.

The floor was rather cold because it was laminate or wood floor. Single glazed windows weren’t great, and the view outside, which looked like a bit of a dumping ground wasn’t good. There were some bits of plaster missing from the wall, the telephone handset lead comes apart, the wardrobe had a total of two coat hangers in a double!

Excellent location but wouldn’t stay again if located on ground floor due to noise levels

Close proximity to rail station, good clean room and sizeable for a single, comfy bed good shower and plentiful supply of teas coffees etc

Noise levels, could hear every footstep from room above showers going on even people turning in beds + conversations lots of door slamming all through night. Probably the worst nights sleep I’ve had in any of my hotel stays. It may be I was unlucky with occupants in the room above!

How close it was to Derby City Centre

Very dated... was quite run down through the hallways, it was not sign posted very well internally and easy to get lost. There was no water pressure, with the shower being pretty much unusuable
