Breakfast
Terrible experience; this hotel is overrated.
The location is awful, a major traffic bottleneck. The rooms are small, and we were given the worst possible room, near the elevator. The price was high considering they don't assign good rooms to Booking.com customers.
THE WORST PART: They tried to sell us a taxi service, charging five times more than an Uber or regular taxi. It's appalling that the staff doesn't value and care for their guests, offering the best options and recommendations. The manager tried to resolve the situation, and they canceled the charge, but it was a terrible experience, especially when the staff tried to justify themselves. Again, when you go to a country with a different language and customs, you expect to feel protected in your hotel, especially a French chain like Sofitel.

Room was very lovely and spacious. Balcony with views were fantastic. Location was great.
Soundproofing needs serious improvement. We were kept awake from loud music from the street below all through our stay. Pillows too soft - should have option for different types of pillows. We booked a Club room with access to the Club lounge. Food provided in the evenings was mediocre - selection was poor.

From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by the hotel staff with wonderful drinks and delightful sweets. We were upgraded to a room with a breathtaking view of the Burj Khalifa right in front of us.
The hospitality was exceptional, the room was spacious and stunning, equipped with smart technology, and beautifully designed.
Breakfast was outstanding, with great attention to even the smallest details.
We will be happy to return again

The room is cosy. Good breakfast. Opportunity to do the early check in and late check out. Gym is good as well
It is a loud area and it might work for some people.
The hotel has quite cheap shampoo, the hair became oily and uncomfortable to wash.
I didn’t like the pool e as well.

The hotel’s location is truly great, but it is in a very high-traffic area. The open buffet and the food were genuinely delicious. However, the so-called private beach shown in the hotel photos is misleading. If you want to go to the beach, you have to carry foldable sunbeds, towels, and even an umbrella from the hotel yourself. This was a disappointment for us.
My biggest disappointment, however, was having to wait for hours for a baby cot, even though I had requested it before our arrival. There were also basic amenities missing in the room, such as a toothbrush, which we had to wait for as well. Although the room has both a shower and a bathtub, there are no small shampoo or shower gel amenities next to the bathtub. The products in the shower are fixed dispensers, which I find extremely inconvenient.
Overall, I do not think the hotel is worth the price paid.

-The room was lovely! The view from the balcony was even better
-Certain members of the staff were very nice and friendly (others not so much, more on that in the negatives)
-Breakfast was nice
-Comfy beds
-Deserts at the restaurants were nice
-Halfboard lets you choose, on top of breakfast, between lunch and dinner (whereas on booking.com you get the choice to pay for breakfast and dinner) , although if I choose to stay again, I will certainly not be choosing it (more on that in the negatives, especially considering the amount of very nice restaurants in the area).
-JBR beach is awesome, with lots of very good restaurants and the breathtaking marina is a few minutes walk away
-When reporting that we were not exactly satisfied with our stay, the man handling our checkout (who was very profesional and courteous) arranged a meeting with a manager who offered her contact and offered a better room in case we would be staying again.
A note on the negatives below: I limited them to the most egregious ones since I reached the wordcount limit. Sadly there was a lot more of those. For example, why do certain guests have to pay 500 Dirham deposit, whilst others (like me) have to pay 1000 despite paying for everything upfront? Booking.com should make this more clear, as well as what is included in the halfboard/dinner options(you only get the buffet style restaurant, whereas in other hotels we would have a better buffet restaurant and usually minimum one more a'la carte, despite the Sofitel being in a similar/or even higher price range to said hotels)
The experience at the hotel is sadly not what we expected. On the week prior to arriving we stayed at a 4 star hotel on the Palm and the idea was to move from a good hotel to a very good hotel. Sadly, the previous hotel was superior in nearly every regard, despite a lower rating on booking.com (which in our experience should be the other way round)
-checkin process: this was a bad one. I've stayed in multiple 5 star hotels around the world and this is the first time I've had this sort of "experience". We arrived early, around 14:40. The lady who was handling the checkin told me the room would be ready at 15:00 and would call me over. We waited in direct view and she proceeded to checkin further guests. Only for it to go past 15:00 and ignore us and checkin more guests after that. Finally at 15:20, after she finished checking in another guest, being already agitated I approached her, to learn the room is ready. No apology, just a silly laugh.
-second issue, despite the delay with the room(the room itself was lovely) but we had a comical amount of issues and faults with it which should not have happened considering the price. Starting with a broken AC which we had to report a few times (since it wasn't fixed, despite receiving confirmation that the issue was addressed), a faulty flush button in the toilet (unless this was intentional that you have to press the flush button very firmly and apply notable force for a few seconds for it to flush so I highly doubt it should be working this way). Broken curtain which was stuck and couldnt be opened (this was fixed after reporting it twice). And the worst offender: the water would go from regular to hot, sometimes burning hot. This is inexcusable and dangerous!)
-third:half board.

Very disappointing stay – not as advertised
We left the hotel after one completely sleepless night and did not stay the remaining 5 nights due to the serious issues experienced.
The noise level was extreme and made sleep impossible. We even changed rooms during the night, but this did not improve the situation. There was also cold air coming through the windows, adding to the discomfort.
The overall quality is far below what is advertised. We know genuine 5-star hotels very well, and this property does not meet that standard, not even a proper 4-star level.
Most worrying was the shower, where the water temperature changes suddenly without warning, becoming boiling hot — a real safety risk.
To make matters worse, the hotel refuses any refund or compensation for the 5 unused nights, despite the stay being impossible due to these problems.
I would strongly warn others to be cautious. Wish I could give 0 stars.

Excellent location near the beach and lots of shops / restaurants nearby.staff were excellent and room was cleaned to a very high standard each day. There was a nice pool and seating area outside.
Whilst my room on the 14th floor was lovely, it was unfortunate I was given a room with a connecting door to the room next door. Whilst I understand this is great for families, as a solo traveller with a couple of ladies in the room next door who talked loudly and constantly until midnight each night, it was rather frustrating. The sound travels much more through a door than if it had been a wall, I could hear their conversation which unfortunately kept me awake.
It should also be noted that the traffic around the vicinity of the hotel was very congested when I was there which made getting out of the area to go elsewhere in the city a lengthy process, not that it is a fault of the hotel, it is just quite a busy area.

Location was close to beach, restaurants and shops. Staff were exceptional and eager to help. Hannington our porter was extremely helpful as was Matthew in the Millesime club who looked after us whenever we were in the club. Nothing was too much trouble.
Lifts took forever as one was not operating.

It was a great location and the hotel was well kept and decorated.
The pool area has a great view.
It had virtually no sound proofing on the rooms. You could hear people outside the door and there are very loud bars outside which disturbed us until past midnight.
Breakfast was nice but it was so busy and so loud.
The pool area isn’t big enough for the hotel and it was hard to find space to sit there until late in the day.

You can’t fault anything about Sofitel JBR or it’s insanely attentive staff.

Really spacious room with good bathroom and bedroom. Friendly staff and good in room service.
The room and the hotel itself require renovation, it looks tired. Soundproofing is not so good, could hear outside disco. The sofa in the leaving room is not comfortable at all.
