The view. This hotel has so much potential, if it was only looked after and advertised properly.
Quite a long but detailed list:
• Even if you book a hillside villa, no one explains that you need to literally climb a super steep hill to get to your room, this being at 30 degrees of temperature.
• The whole property need urgent renovations. Cushions on the sunbeds are all mouldy , all the metal is heavily rusty which is a danger for health, public toilets are outdated, the “beach” that gives access to the sea is dirty and not looked after at all and in general the hotel seems just neglected.
• Staff are not proactive at all, most times are gathered in groups smoking and chatting to each other when there is plastic on the floor, and so many things to do around the property. The staff helping with your luggage and the chef doing the eggs at breakfast where lovely but both people we were attended by in reception where dismissive and rude.
• They recommend a local motorbike rental shop, which is 1km away from the property and they charged us 300 bhat to take us there - 2 minute drive.
• We had food twice here by the pool, first time some calamari and bruschetta and then a salad, spring rolls and fries. Without joke, the most expensive food we had in Thailand and worse in quality. We could not even eat the spring rolls.
• We booked our 4 night stay with a 50% off promotion and even paying half price we felt like the value for money was just so bad.

Dusit Buncha is a beautiful resort in a stunning location overlooking Koh Nang Yuan. The facilities available were great and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. There are regular shuttles into town, so you can make your plans around this.
Nothing. Although the main pool is under renovation, it was wet weather when I stayed and there was still a smaller pool available. A free water refill station in the lobby would be helpful to reduce plastic bottle consumption.

Beautiful property and beautiful rooms. We stayed in a king suite.
This resort is on a cliff and to get up to our room was very challenging because we’re at the top. I love hiking and I’m in great shape, but it was a long way up and for most people it would be too challenging. Especially over 50

The terrace view in our Chalet was amazing 🥰
So far just the way up to our room, but besides that, everything went perfect!

Beautiful place. Super friendly and helpful staff. The room is huge and beautiful, they keep it clean everyday.
The hill to the rooms is VERY steep. It’s ok if you’re confident on a bike but on foot it’s exhausting every time you go to your room

The view is AMAZING! And the staff were so kind! The perfect place for relaxing and enjoy the island.
There was nothing. Though, If we wouldn’t have a scooter, it might have been more difficult to move around.

Happy stay here.A large resort with spacious rooms and stunning views facing Koh Nang Yuan peaceful and quiet surroundings. Also, here is an eco-friendly resort that promotes natural resource conservation — and offers incredible snorkeling right in front of the property, with crystal-clear water.
The weather and rain on Koh Tao make it quite humid and can make getting around the island a bit difficult.

We had a wonderful stay at Dusit Buncha Resort! The staff were incredibly kind, helpful, and accommodating to all our needs — truly going above and beyond. The hotel itself is beautiful, with stunning views and a peaceful atmosphere. We loved the location — it’s a bit more secluded, which made it feel calm and private, yet still just a few minutes from the town center.
Everything was top notch — from the rooms to the service. Also want to give a special mention to Dr. Andrew, whose OMT & PT treatments were a huge help for a back injury — highly recommended!
Would definitely come back and stay here again.

The views from the room are amazing we where at a basic room and enjoyed it.
The two pools are nice although not mainteined at all…
Food at the pool bar is good
They basically monopolize on their location, charging over priced taxi charges, 400 baht for a 5 min taxi to center, the hotel has only 3 free shuttles to town and 2 back a day!!!!, and if you dont plan on taking a motorcycle, it is not enough.
I would note that they dont call a taxi for you for 400 baht , they use the hotel’s car, but charging more money.
I would expect hotel from this chain and that regards itself and costs that much to have hourly free shuttle service.
Another note is that alltought koh tao is a diving island, they dont provide any shuttle for arriving in time for dives (usually 7 am), which again if you plan to do, i dont recommend this hotel

It’s located outside the city, right by the seaside. We booked a premium-view room, which cost a bit more, but the ocean view and the sound of the waves made it completely worth it. It’s a wonderland in itself. The property has its own private beach access, a swimming pool, and much more. We loved it! Almost all the staff were very nice and friendly.
On our last day, we ordered dinner at Riya Restaurant, but it felt like the chefs were in a hurry — the baked prawns were undercooked, and the Masama curry was a bit watery.

The location has spectacular views, just a little out of the way though.
The pool area was very bleak with no atmosphere.
There was missing tiles everywhere in the pool. Leaks in the wall from the small pool into the bigger pool and you had to be very careful on the steps into the pool so as to not cut your feet on the broken tiles.

the view from our room was amazing, having our own pool was an added bonus. The walk up the steep hills was a shock on arrival initially but got easier the more your did it.
the bathroom being built into the rocks was a nice added feature.
on an evening the room is too dark to be able to get ready properly, Even the bathroom light is not adequate, consider a light over the mirror for people who want to apply make up etc.

Great for nature lovers—right by the Nangyuan and greenery. Calm vibe, big room with a huge bed and an extra-large bathroom. Tasty breakfast and dinner. This trip was memorable, and I’ll definitely come back.
It rained on and off during the trip, and all the walking left me a bit tired, but it was still a memorable stay—I'll definitely be back.

The best resort on Koh Tao—big room, infinity pool,, amazing views, and friendly staff.

"The location has a beautiful atmosphere. The Prime Seafront Villa room has a bathroom outside, which is not very convenient as you have to walk out of the bedroom. Surrounding the hotel is filled with construction, and the bridge is damaged. The swimming pool steps are broken, causing the tiles to hurt my feet. There are sounds of animals calling during the night."

I’m from Samui. I visited Phangan and then came to Koh Tao. I love Koh Tao so much! Even though it rained, I really enjoyed my stay here. The place is natural, very comfortable bed, and has a beautiful room design and view. Breakfast was delicious, the staff were lovely, and snorkeling here is amazing with lots of fish.
It’s a pity that it rained heavily, so I couldn’t kayak to Nang Yuan Island.

I moved here from another hotel on Koh Tao and was truly impressed by this resort. They offer free shuttle service from the pier, and the staff were kind and helpful—even if some don’t speak much English, it didn’t affect our stay at all. The room had an amazing view with Koh Nang Yuan right in front of us. Thank you for making this trip such a happy memory for me and my husband.

The rooms were the only good part about the hotel.
Rude member of staff in reception ruined our stay. Very steep hills, property run down, food poisoning from the overpriced restaurant food, breakfast extremely basic.

This resort has so much potential - a view to die for, those Robinson Crusoe attributes that only Koh Tao can offer and at the end of a scenic road offering peace and tranquility. An obvious under investment over the years, it would make sense to start a complete renovation project with proper brand strategy input from the onset. Out of that you would end up with a property to match the exceptional view and aspect!
This is a blank canvas. A good bit of owner investment and direction could make this unparalleled. Think Six Senses mashed with The Standard. But for now, it's still a pretty and handy place to stay.

The view was as about the only thing that was as described on the booking and this is what you’re paying for. There were several hotels we stayed in all over Thailand for a fraction of the price that were so much better than this.
We booked to stay at the hotel for four nights, choosing the wooden chalet room. We were picked up by the hotel driver at the pier and taken to the hotel which was a highly appreciated touch. Upon arrival, we were greeted by the receptionist and shortly after taken to our room where two kind workers carried our suitcases. Unexpectedly experiencing a hike up a steep hill to the room which took us by surprise as there was not any other way of getting up there, not even stairs and this was not exactly disclosed.
The room at first appeared fine, nothing extraordinary which is disappointing considering the price and how many better options there are for so much cheaper. The room amenities were poor, the room had bad lighting which made it difficult in the evenings, no bedside lamp so just one spotlight on each side which was uncomfortable. The room was outdated with small cracks in the wood which allowed bugs in when the lights were on in the evenings. You could also hear anyone coming past the door very clearly which was slightly annoying.
The bedsheets where clean however the white towels where grey and sometimes we were given brown towels as bath towels which were given for the pool, strange.
The included breakfast was nothing special but did the job for a quick eat however it did not make us want to dine in the restaurant.
The pool was not like the photos as it has so many broken tiles and definitely needs refurbishing. Relaxing by the pool also was not the best option as there was construction happening to the decks which we were not made aware of.
We rented out a motorbike to get around the island and had to park up at the top due to the steep hill that is not shown anywhere which was dangerous to get up and down. Even for two physically fit and capable individuals, it was very difficult and ruined the hotel.

The staffs were so friendly and helpful. The room are comfortable and clean. The location is perfect for chilling and it’s not too far from city center. They also have private beach to swim or snorkeling. Recommended to stay.

Staff was very friendly and caring. Pool was clean. Room was free of ants and mosquitos. The view from the room was amazing!!!
Facilities are worn and outdated. Bathroom is as dark as dungeon. Air con is very loud even on the lowest speed. Bathroom tap was spinning around, "fixing" by the staff didn't resolve the problem. Pool towels were ripping apart!!! Sunbeds at the pool were dirty, they needed deep-cleaning for sure. The hotel floors and stairs to the restaurant weren't clean, they even had blood marks on them for at least 12h+. Cocktails in the bar were awful, menu is expensive and quality of it doesn't justify the price. Pad Thai with prawns was significantly more expensive than with chicken and beef, but it contained only 3 prawns!!! The supervisor in the breakfast restaurant (lady with red/orange hair) was rude, looked angry all the time and wasn't professional in regards to the customers - she constantly approached tables to get plates off from the tables too soon and interrupted conversations by doing so and was holding some kind of "teaching meeting" with other staff members in the middle of the breakfast service.
Prices in hotel and the restaurant exclude 10% Service charge and 7% VAT, but the actual quality doesn't justify those prices. Even Premium snorkeling tour package had higher price than standard (1100 B compared to 990 B)! The location is very remote.
