Great place, has everything you need

Great location, room was a decent size. Parking at the back of the property is limited but great if you get a space! Breakfast was really good. Staff were very friendly and appreciated the fresh cookies on arrival!

The room had a weird smell because of the electric heater, like a dusty burning metal smell, made us not want to use the heater but it was also quite cold during our stay so we had to turn it on at times. Also the sound proofing is not great, I was woken up by our next door neighbours a fair few times as I could hear them talking and their tv. Also we stayed in the building behind the main building, our room had a shared entrance with next door, whenever they would enter or leave during the night it would sound like they were trying to enter our room, this startled me out of my sleep a few times during the night

Comfy stay and lovely food.

We stayed in room 19 which was large and bathroom nice. Food was lovely and staff great (although not quite so welcoming receptionist).

We asked for an extra duvet as ours was thin and the room chilly. Electric heaters did get the room warm in the end and the extra duvet supplied. We slept well.

We enjoyed our stay and would love to come back again

Loved the room - nicely decorated, the bed was comfortable and bathroom was immaculate. Had a good breakfast and the service was very good

The radiators weren't working, though the little heater worked well but no heat in the bathroom. Otherwise we were very happy. The shower was lovely and big and worked well. We had a nice meal in the evening and the staff were very friendly and helpful.

This was the third visit to the hotel. Every time has been lovely.

I feel the hotel decor is getting a little tired, and because of this I feel it’s a little over priced. If the decor didn’t look tired and the lounge area/mirrors and the decor in the room wasn’t so old looking, it would have been very good value for money.

Excellent weekend trip exploring the Cotswolds

Loved the interior, kept the traditional dark wooden vibe with an open fire in sitting area. Didn’t have breakfast there so could not comment on that. Loved the room, was very spacious and comfortable. Staff were excellent, very chatty and willing to help with anything you need including providing recommendations where to visit!

We like the breakfast, in general the food was good, and the location of the Hotel was also good.

The room needs a deep cleaning. There was a lot of dust on the lamps, and unfortunately, the floor is carpeted and needs to be vacuumed regularly.

Charming interior and convenient location, perfect for a countryside getaway

Great location, only a few minutes away from the train station. Staff were friendly and accommodating. Charming and cozy interior.

More attention should be paid when cleaning. The lamp on the desk, toilet brush holder and bathroom radiator were covered in a layer of dust. The place has very creaky floors so I would recommend bringing earplugs for sleeping too!

Good location and convenient parking

This is a pub with rooms, not a hotel. I had 3 rooms booked for 3 nights. On our way to the hotel I was advised by phone that there was a problem with the water. The restaurant would be closed that night and breakfast would be limited. The next morning no one could tell us if the situation was going to be rectified. We were not offered any recompense, refund, alternative accommodation or even a free breakfast. When the water was fixed it was brown and sludgy for a while and then ok. However the pressure in the shower was hopeless and the sink was so slow to drain away. Simple things to fix. Staff were sullen and unforthcoming we never saw a smile let alone be asked if everything was all right etc. we were not shown to our rooms or guided to any residents only areas. During the 3 days the bathroom floor wasn’t cleaned. The whole place was generally tired and shabby.

Disappointing

Central location

Our room wasn’t the best. Curtain hanging off the rail, just missing a few hooks I guess but this would have been an easy fix. Heating in the room a bit hit and miss. They did acknowledge there was an issue with the heating in our room and there was a fan heater admittedly. Beautiful walk in shower but the tray filled up to the brim by the time I’d finished and my husband had to wait for the water to go down before he had his. Another easy fix. The dressing table either needed a coat of varnish or replaced. There was marks on the wall could have been a bit of mould, don’t know. The skirting boards needed a good clean behind the bed too. However, it was a comfortable bed and we slept well. Just a lack of attention to detail and maintenance.

We do love the Cotswolds and enjoyed the walks, taking in the beauty, even when it rained.

More staff at dinner, poor girl was rushing everywhere. Room above us had creaky floorboards, not surprisingly with the age of the building, but person was pacing! Would have been nice to have the real fires lit the first night we were there, but they were lit the second night, again this could have been down to staff shortage

Cotswolds Stay

Location is perfect with free parking. All staff were helpful and pleasant. Food good although we only had breakfast. Bed very comfortable. Welcoming atmosphere and busy place.

It was a small room and was quite cramped. But fine for 1 night. Quite noisy in the early hours, but the biggest hiccup was the lack of water when all guests use the facilities at the same time the system can't cope and you can't even flush the loo ! I understand that the hotel may well be being refurbished in the near future to sort this out.

The staff were lovely and very helpful. The chap at reception did his best to help and he brought me a standard lamp for the dark room, also some other coffee. The bed was comfortable. The food was OK

The room ( Room 5) was not good. I did complain at the time.very dowdy and run down and not worth the £208 I paid without breakfast! Only lighting was two small bedside lamps so it was too dark to see to do my make up! There was a small bedside table only on one side of the double bed. The paint was peeling off the wall and there were dirty scuff marks. Curtains hanging off the rails had come off their hooks. There was an old, disused free standing, partly in pieces air conditioning unit littering up the space. The room heating didn’t come on in the morning and it was cold. Breakfast was fine but, due I suspect to lack of staff, took one hour to arrive! There is an Espresso coffee machine in the room and no sachets, so no good if you want decaf!

We booked room only and found the pricing for the breakfast menu a bit confusing. We were not sure what was included in the buffet. The menu should have been clearer. The coffee machine in our room did not work. There was a kettle to make tea but it did not fit under the taps to fill it so we had to use our tooth mugs !!

Scruffy bar, deplorable ladies' toilet adjacent. Lamb Kofta I chose for evening meal in bar was badly presented and made me ill. My husband tripped up the unmarked step in the corridor, going through to reception. The longish walk to Room 30 would have been unpleasant if it had been raining, as there's no covered walkway. Compared with the smart, surprisingly large room and enormous bed (Room 30), the ensuite bathroom was very small and rather shabby, with no grab rail to get into the bath to use the shower.

The location was good

The furnishings were very tired and old. The shower had mold in the corners and the shower handle was broken and couldn’t hold the head upright. Also there is a spiral staircase that’s tight you will have to carry your luggage up. The lighting was poo too.
