Ostraco Suites

We really enjoyed our stay at Ostraco Suites. The hotel was lovely, and our rooms and suites were very clean and comfortable, with nice views of the water. The pool area was beautiful and relaxing, also with water views, and breakfast was delicious and made to order with plenty of choices. What really stood out was the staff. Everyone we encountered, from reception to the pool bar and restaurant, was warm and helpful. They gave us lots of suggestions and were always happy to arrange transportation. Ostraco Suites was a lovely place to stay, with great service, a relaxing atmosphere, and a wonderful breakfast.

The main thing to know is the location. The hotel is outside Chora and it is possible to walk into town, although the walk is steep and the return trip can be challenging. We ended up taking taxis quite often, which the hotel arranged for us, and they were expensive at €20 or more each way. Just be prepared to factor transportation costs into your stay if you plan to spend a lot of time in Chora.

Location is just close enough and just far enough away from the town and port. Walkable within 15 minutes. Breakfast is fantastic and the staff are absolutely exceptional. Already planning our return next year.

The reception staff were friendly and gave us a warm welcome, and the welcome drink was great. Unfortunately, the experience went downhill after that. Breakfast was great.

We originally booked a Deluxe Sea View Room with a jetted hot tub and a modern walk-in shower. Instead, we were “upgraded” to a completely different room that did not match what we booked at all. The bathroom was outdated, smelled strongly of sewage, and had an old bathtub-shower combo instead of the modern shower we expected. The bathtub was very high with no safety handle, which was difficult for me because of my previous knee injury. The sewage smell was so strong, we had to open the entrance door and cover all the light sources in the room to ease the smell and to stop the mosquito flying in. The “hot tub” was not hot at all — it felt like a cold pool. It was also surrounded by trees and insects, which made it uncomfortable to use. Most disappointing of all, there was barely any sea view. The balcony mostly faced houses, and the view was blocked by a huge pillar. This was supposed to be our final night in Mykonos, but the room completely ruined the experience. It was not an upgrade, and it felt like the hotel gave away the room we actually booked to longer-stay guests. I would not return to this hotel again.
