Absolutely beautiful property with great views of the backwaters. Great staff and good food. Evening cruise is must if you are visiting kochi for the first time, Elizabeth gives a very good overview of the nearby properties.
Some things the property can improve upon.
1. The mattress was too soft, if you are on a queen or king bed, you will feel the other person rolling or adjusting and will disturb your sleep.
2. Requested an iron, it was a plain basic iron. I expect at least a nice steam iron in Taj.
3. Welcome dance was too much for us, made me feel awkward as to why they are dancing, I am no king. The tilak and aarti is enough.
4. Sambhar in breakfast was too thin and very chilly, I have tasted better sambhar at roadside joints. I was not expecting them to mess up some thing as basic as sambhar

Food was great overall, with staff always on look-out to ensure guests are always satisfied and fulfilled with needs.
Specifically, the restaurant "Rice Boat" was phenomenal, and can eat there every single day. During my one night stay, I ate there twice.
Nothing, except for something that is uncontrollable. A little effort to Fort Kochin, but definitely not a deal breaker.
