Good value for money if you are looking for something near the city center.

The location was a big advantage when the city center ant the main station are pretty close. A lot of different facilities in the near as well. The cleanliness was on point and the staff super friendly.

The only disadvantage was that the rooms didin’t have shampoo or conditioner, everything else was good.

If my room would have been cleaned and tidied up on time, my stay is perfect

Room services is extremely bad, My room was not cleaned and tided up for 2 days. I have repeatedly asked the reception to remind them to clean my room. But the third night I came back from the show, the room was still the same, rubbish in the dusbin is full, no clean towel. I was forced to go to the reception to ask for towel and water. This destroyed the image of the hotel. Please pay attention to this ! Otherwise, this affect the whole hotel rating.

Not a 4 star experience

The rooms are good size, good breakfast, location not far from the centre

This hotel is listed as a 4 star hotel, but there is no room service and no minibar in the hotel. The hotel is particularly stingy about water - we received 165 ml of free sparkling water per person, no still water option (one bottle for 3 people). Any additional water had to be purchased from the bar. The hotel is extremely basic for a 4 star rating, doesn't feel very clean, the check in/ check out is very slow, the heating did not work in the room with no technician to help later in the day. It is surprising that this hotel holds a 4 star rating. It should be no more than 3 stars. The hotel used to be much better before Covid, but since then some key services appear to have been discontinued. Generally, the feeling staying at this hotel is rather depressing.

Overall - it was fine.

The staff started to recognize me right away during my stay and went above most days having ice ready for my water needs and anytime I had a question - they were quick to provide assistance.

The listing stated the room had Air Conditioning - and due to the weather being warm during our visit - the room was ALWAYS warm. The A/C in the room did little more than move the hot air around. So sleeping wasn't ideal. Also, the refrigerator in our room never actually cooled anything - it barely could keep things less than warm. Add in the sewer smell due to the warm weather and open sewer vent next to the toilet - I've had better experiences. This is first trip to Europe, so maybe this is common - just not what I was expecting.

Amazing as always, will be back

The Mercure Hotel Severinshof is always my go-to whenever I'm in Cologne. The staff (especially the bar staff!) is always kind, extremely accommodating and just friendly in general. The rooms are always cleaned to an exceptional standard, and so far I've always been lucky that they've gone above and beyond in catering to any special wishes I might have, whether that's a cocktail not on the menu or ensuring I have a room with a bathtub. One of those places where I really don't mind higher prices to comparable alternatives, because I know I get what I'm paying for.

One of the lifts was broken and it would be amazing if that could be rectified, but I am sure it will in due time.

The hotel has an excellent location, very central with a wide range of public transport on the doorstep. Rooms are clean and functional.

A USB socket would be a nice addition. The hairdryer in the bathroom is very dated - not sufficiently powerful and difficult to use for longer period of drying with the coiled electrical cord attached to the wall fixing.

Staff were professional. Room was clean, comfortable and spacious. The air conditioning was good. Very convenient location beside the U bahn stop and close to shops, restaurants etc.

My son's shower hose leaked. It needs replacing. It was reported to staff. The underground carpark turn on leaving is far too tight for a large SUV (Range Rover). My rear offside wheel was badly scuffed on the kerb. (Not reported as we had left)

A nice hotel near the city center

The hotel is close to the main area. It was a 10 min walk from there. This was very convenient for us.

The bathtub is a bit narrow and one is prone to slipping while coming out of the shower.

Great place to stay

Really nice place, nice bar and staff were great. A cosy and quite hotel. very close to everything you need, shops and places to eat for breakfast near by and very nice décor.

The most uncomfortable thing was every morning while laying in bed or getting ready the house keeping staff keep knocking once then coming in the room without giving you a chance to get to the door, this happened twice every morning until I finally found the do not disturb sign that was not with all the other hotel info so didn't find it on the first day. Found it strange that you had a glass cup in the bathroom but a paper cup for tea coffee so you could only have one hot drink every 24 hours unless you asked for more cups and you got hardly enough milk for one drink never mind two. Had to have a bath everyday as the shower sometimes worked and sometimes didn't, turned it off and on but still didn't work right, maybe it was something I didn't understand about it.

U bahn is available right in front of the hotel with connections to hauptbahnof and 2 stops away from lanxess or messe. Superb apartment style suite with a huge balcony. Everything was just perfect.

QR CODE FOR MENUS which we could not access and no paper copy. Paper cups in room with no replenishment of coffee and tea etc. No toiletries except a fixed bottle of hand wash and shampoo. No mini bar. Graffiti all over the outside. The picture does not look the same as the actual hotel. Very unhelpful restaurant staff.

Great location

Great location. The street that the hotel is on had all the shops you would need, restaurants, chemists, fruit and veg shops and bakeries for breakfast. I'd stay here again!

Whilst the room was spotless, the pillows had a musty smell.
