Numa Brighton Pavilion

The hotel location is very convenient! Tesco express opposite, many restaurants nearby. Room is clean but not very big. No reception and all self service, you need a smart phone and internet.

Large and bright room. The bedroom was also exceptionally clean. Don’t forget to check in online prior to arrival if you don’t want to waste time and download the app!

I got a great deal on the hotel from 3-6 May and was curious to see what had been done with it since it changed from being My Brighton where I stayed many times. The good points: excellent, very central location; rooms equipped with nice bathroom, coffee maker, kettle, fridge and safe (as usual, on the floor of the wardrobe, so you have to practically lie on your stomach to get at it). Lockers available on ground floor where you can leave a bag until 8 p.m. on the day of your departure – very handy. On the downside: mattress far too squishy for my liking, with too little firm support, and the pillows were all enormously fat and heavy, with no give – something thinner would have been nice. Not a great night's sleep for me, I'm afraid, but this is a personal thing, I guess. Everything on the bed side of the room is a little cramped: desk, chair & fridge all squeezed into the corner. Huge TV only showed a picture in the top leftarea of the screen: I contacted Numa about this and was eventually told they were aware of problem and were trying to sort it out (but only after I did battle with the chatbot). No USB charge points in room, so you need to have a plug. On my last day, still during the hotel's "quiet hours" from 10 p.m. to 8 a.m., I was delighted to be woken at 7.10 a.m. by the sound of a drill which continued for some time. Checkout was tricky: you photograph the QR code shown on the inside of the room door and that's that – in theory. I had to contact Numa again about this and get it sorted out (preceded by frustrating chatbot conversation, of course). What I found most annoying here was the absence of any actual staff to sort out difficulties. I had to speak first to the useless chatbot and eventually ask for a human. You are then sent three separate SMSs asking about the interaction – what a pain! Once you actually get a human agent, problems/queries are quickly sorted out, but it's still all a little hit and miss at the moment. Overall, however, this is a pretty OK place to stay.

Lovely hotel, great breakfast included (but the cost is extremely high so the breakfast should be expected to be good). we stayed two nights but our room wasn’t cleaned once. The room is beautiful but the furniture, sink, tables etc are very run down/chipped and dated for the price of the room. Good location but would only stay again if the price was cheaper.
