The room was far too hot and as on ground floor then I couldn't keep the window open to cool the room down when I went to bed.
There was a corporate event on and I felt like I was being ignored both at dinner time and at breakfast time

The Passage House Hotel and Passage House Inn is a large hotel in Newton Abbott.
The hotel at the time of booking was undergoing some reservations of the leisure facilities, however, this didn't spoil our stay.
We had evening dinner with friends at the Passage House Inn and the food and atmosphere was just amazing.
Afterwards, our room was large, the bed was comfortable which meant that we had a good nights sleep.
Breakfast had a range of continental and cooked foods - the Eggs Royale is highly recommended.
Will we return to the Passage House Hotel - absolutely 100% and we can't wait to return.
nothing to report here.

Lovely location
WiFi was awful, remote for tv didn’t work very well, tv kept freezing. uncomfortable bed due to large dent in the middle. Fire alarm set off in block at 1am not one apology from staff until confronted on check out, quite rude, wouldn’t stay again due to this.

Lodges require redecorating and new carpets.

Nice location and generally nice overall on the outside.
Disappointed! Really dated and tired. Holes in the carpet, cheap mattresses and a really uncomfortable stay. I actually slept 2-3 hours and then checked out to make a 5 hour journey home it was that bad.

Clean room
Great lunch by the chef and served by Dale in the bar
Great bar service by Dale
Great receptionist service by Ruby and Karen
Brilliant NYE party at the hotel
A bit tired and dated and needs refurbishing in certain areas
Scaffolding outside which the hotel told me on the phone
Broken stand on the tv in room
Tea machine didn’t taste great and I couldn’t order freshly poured tea with milk
My room was dated and tired!

Great breakfast in the conservatory overlooking the river. Very dog friendly, plenty of free parking, great location for Newton Abbott, and an east 20 min drive to Dartmoor or Torquay.
Our room was away from the main hotel in the South Lodge. In entering the building there is no receptionist or any sort of security. The doors are open 24/7. It means anyone could wander in and walk along the corridors to the rooms. We had no issues but we were surprised it was so open.

Views of the estuary were amazing quiet location no complaints at all
Hotel needs desperate attention to detail with updating ie doors , carpets , furniture , curtains

Stayed here many times as close to my friend. I was in the South Lodge. The room was spacious and I had a view. Had a fan, always a bonus.
The TV in the room does not work that great. The room is in desperate need of modernising. Very worn and dated.

Nice quiet location. Next to lovely pub. Near to town. Put in an apartment as they are updating the rooms in the main building, so we had extra room which was nice.
Property being renovated at present. So room is dated but still ok

I liked the location and I am local to the hotel, we decided stay the night after an event so we kind of knew the standard to expect.
The rooms are dated but acceptable.
The location is nice for local amenities and a walk around the estuary and marsh.
The food in the pub is good and our breakfast in the morning was fantastic.
Cleanliness I would say was ok and you could tell it had been cleaned but there was some hairs around the sink and bath.
The charity ball we attended at the hotel was good but the food served was not great it reminded me of school dinners and the veg was really hard as if it had been dipped in hot water and then served. However we all did love the dessert (not sure if made or just bought in).

Location was great and staff were friendly
Cleanliness of the room. Bed sheets can see were clean BUT it still had what looked like pubic hair on the duvet which we had to brush off. In the corner of the room above wardrobe, had thick cobwebs and a spider. Also the bin had not been emptied properly. Breakfast was tasty, but the scrambled egg coming in a dome shape was strange, probably just a personal preference and it would be good if it came out with toast rather than doing it yourself, which got timed wrong and toast was cold!

All of the staff were pleasant and helpful, particularly the lady serving breakfast.
The hotel was very quiet and yet I was given a room (5) with no view whatsoever and in a different building to the main reception and restaurant.

Really rude staff members. The manager, Sarah, is extremely rude with a terrible attitude. Run down property with a stagnant smell.

Setting, friendly staff
Renovations, breakfast rather minimal in terms of choice…no fresh fruit, no muesli, no Greek style yoghurt, coffee machine basic, bar had only one malt whiskey and no Guinness. Bit run-down. Should have been cheaper for renovation time.

Good location and views.
Carpet was disgusting, and we did not have any room keys as the machine was broken, everytime we wanted to get back into the room we had to go to reception to get let in. really annoying.

The location was quite good.
The rooms were dated. The bedding had stains on. There was no toiletries available. Just the foam wash by the sink and the 2 in 1 gel (as it said on the dispenser) on the wall by the bath Tub. This was disappointing and we couldn't risk washing hair with it not knowing what we are putting in our hair (normal body wash or shampoo). So, wasn't impressed with that. Blinds were broken and missing so, weren't shutting properly. All in all, the rooms need modernisation.
We had dinner in the restaurant. I was ok. Not the best. The menu is very limited. we ordered the bread board and the olive oil and balsamic vinegar dip was literally a big bowl of olive oil. That was disappointing! Chicken wings were too dry. Chicken goujons were over cooked and were too hard for the little one to eat. I regretted having dinner there. Would have been better to order takeaway instead of that.

Lovely shower. Room very comfortable and warm. Bed was so good, nice pillows, very comfy. Glad that pets are not allowed as my last stay in a different hotel resulted in flea bites. Good facilities, hair dryer, iron and board, fan, nice T.V., kettle and tea bags etc. Lots of storage and hangers. Lots of parking spaces, we arrived early as we were going to the racecourse and the friendly receptionist allowed us to park early as we wanted to walk.
The security of South Lodge is very poor. Anyone can walk through the front door and into the room corridors day and night. Wouldn't have felt safe leaving the room if needed to at night.

It was friendly and accessible to where we needed to go
It was very outdated and neglected

Breakfast was great, but a little on the cool side, only just warm.
Would have been nice to have power outlets near the bed - very few outlets at all and given we all have things that need charging or powering, extra and better located power points would be high on my refurb list. Otherwise great place to stay and walk yet be close to town.
See above re power points

I liked my room which was spacious. I liked the Inn where we ate a meal overlooking the estuary.
That there was no information in our room about the hotel.
Ie spa information, dining options and other facilities available.
I didn't like the stains on the mattress.
Breakfast it took 20 mins for our order to be taken and that was after my husband approached a member of staff to do this.
After seeing other customers being seated after us having their orders taken before us.

Good location and friendly staff, breakfast good although buffet selection was limited. Plenty of parking and nice pub nearby the river.
General cleanliness around the hotel and particularly in the room (50 North Lodge) with what appeared to be a blood stained carpet and other stains, visible dust around edges of carpet. Room was functional but looked tired and unclean.
9.0 / 10.0
Wonderful location and fab views over the estuary
A little dated in places and could do with a makeover
