Hôtel Petit Palais

Incredibly nice staff who were super helpful with transportation to and from the hotel via a private car. Very good air conditioning. Nice and cool even in a heat wave! Nice buffet breakfast and outdoor eating area.

Room was small but sufficient for our needs. Up in the hills and not close enough to the city to walk in. Needed a short Uber ride each time we wanted to go into town.

The staff made a huge difference - people that greeted us and made us feel welcome every day <3 The room was on the small side, but with a spectacular view. Beds were comfy, good AC (although noisy and needed earplugs), high standard and well maintained bathroom with vanity set and good cosmetics, beautiful decor. There was complementary water in the room refilled on a daily basis. The room has a small fridge with mini bar. Outside relaxation area was big with a lot seating to work/chat/read, there was a little yoga corner. The dipping pool is tiny (2x3.5m) although clean and pleasant to relax, with ca. 10 sunbeds, pool towels and a shower. The hotel is small - you start to recognize guests quickly . The area is quiet and serene. Although we're very fit, the climb on a hot day adds up - the closest restaurants, cafes are 10-15mins away - in return steps target was hit every day! :)

Sustainability and frugality is cool, but not replacing towels when they needed replacement was hard to accept in a 4* hotel - I should not have to ask. We had gluten-free requirement, although the options were available, in practice they were limited to cereal and crackers, all in all not worth 21 Euro per person.

Small but clean and well kept. Rooms with a view looked particularly lovely though I did not have one.

While staying at Hôtel Petit Palais, the room phone rang loudly several times at 2 AM waking me up. When I answered it, no one was on the line. As a solo traveler staying in a solo room, this was unsettling, and I was unable to fall back asleep for nearly four hours. I emailed reception to check everything was okay and received no response. When I told the front desk the next morning they apologized and said it happened in another room as well and that they’d call the phone company. However, I effectively lost a night’s rest before my last day in France and there was no gesture of accountability offered. I don’t believe the burden of a disrupted night should fall on the guest, especially when paying to stay at a 4 star hotel. For this reason I can’t recommend the hotel. To be clear, I was not looking for repeat apologies that serve only to let other guests know that the specific issue I experienced was resolved. I was looking for accountability. Again, when a customers pays for a stay and that stay is disrupted, they should be compensated for that disruption. You may have resolved this particular issue, but you did not take accountability for it. What guests will see is that they cannot expect your hotel make things right when they go wrong, and that's the issue here.
