This is a beautiful old hotel located right on the Promenade de Anglais. The location is perfect and has an exquisite view of the French Riviera. We could not stop stop staring at that view! No complaints with room (except of course we didn't pay for an Oceanside view). Breakfast was good and plentiful with lots of options. Upon check-in we had to leave our bags and check-in later. We asked for a restaurant recommendation but was told to check with the concierge. Unfortunately he wasn't there at the time and despite being told he'd be in the afternoon, we never did see him during our 2 night stay. The hotel has a beautiful bar facing the ocean with both indoor and outdoor seating. We went to the bar several times hoping to order drinks and/or lunch. There was never anybody on duty and the front desk was no help. Luckily, in Nice you can find good food and drink even when not available at your hotel or with a concierge recommendation. But the hotel is very beautiful with unbelievable views of the ocean. And there are many, many options nearby. We would definitely stay again.

We had a small bit of business to do in Nice so decided to make a couple of nights of it. We need to keep our costs down so searched around a lot. The Royal is a Beautiful large seafront hotel with the air of former grandeur that you associate with the rich and famous. We booked the basic comfort room and it was very clean and perfect for us. Plenty of room without being cramped. The bathroom was well equipped and very clean. The room was towards the back of the hotel and was SO quiet and the curtains were excellent at preventing the morning sunlight from getting in and waking us up. Breakfast was a comprehensive buffet served in a fantastic large dining room with a view of the Mediterranean Sea and the beautiful people of Nice making their commute. We will book again and can highly recommend this hotel for people who know what actually counts when travelling.

Hotel really needs a renovation but the room was quite nice and the location is A+. The corridor floor is quite badly warped, felt like walking in a cruise ship out at sea. AC worked but the heat sensor must have been faulty because it was either full thrust siberian winter or nothing.
