Really excellent meal in a very charming restaurant.
The room and bathroom/toilet were quite cramped for two adults - especially with a pet.

This is a very special hotel, in a location which suits our bu-annual long haul car trip from SW France to UK. After a long day’s drive wonderful to stay in a comfortable hotel with an outstanding dining room.

It's an historic, characterful building - on the outside
We expected 'chateau hotel' standard but were disappointed by the shabby, random interiors which are desperately in need of redecoration. Two of the downstairs dining areas are fine but the bedroom we had was full of mismatched, dated 'contemporary' furniture for example an old office desk and zebra fabric Louis style chairs plus large amateur paintings of lions on the wall hung at odd heights! No overall scheme, scruffy and thrown together.
The bathroom had a floor length window overlooking the terrace but no blind or nets so you had to close the thick curtains to use the room even in the daytime and turn the lights on.
The breakfast was a scandalous 20E each for a very basic breakfast with no fruit salad or anything special. The room it's served in is poky and dark and the wall hangings are torn and scruffy. The paintwork is chipped - in fact the paintwork everywhere needs an immediate re-do.
The staff are impersonal and the whole place just feels like a money making scheme with no heart or real care for the guests or building itself.
Basically they are attracting business based on the word 'chateau' but there's no follow through.

Location excellent for travelling north through France, beautiful grounds for the dog, lovely room, great restaurant and delightful staff
Said we would be on ground floor and we weren’t which was not ideal with dog and husband with a bad leg. Will be more insistent next time!

Good restaurant.
Rooms in the anex are very dated and very small, badly designed and decorated in a peculiar style. With very little effort and some paint only, this place could be so much better.

Could do with a electirc fan in the attic bedrooms during hot weather

Dinner was excellent
The room didn’t have a proper shower, just a hand-held spray over the bath

Location was perfect and breakfast lovely.
It was extremely hot and with no air conditioning it would have been nice if a fan could have been provided.

Lovely brick building, once a hunting lodge furnished and decorated in the period.
On a hot day we were given a small stuffy roof in the converted coach house. The door is also the window so it wasn’t possible to cool down the room without leaving the door open. There was a bath and only a hand held shower.
Dinner was served on the terrace. Sadly the area is not well looked after - weeds in the flower beds, dead rose bushes and peeling paint every where. The menu was short. Of the four starters only two were on. One of the others was salmon from a packet with nothing else. The mains were lumps of fatty meat and in my case lumpy mashed potato. The two staff who did most of the work were school children on work experience - it was only their second day. It was a dismal experience despite the wonderful setting.

As usual a warm welcome from the staff. A lovely room overlooking the front. A superb meal as always with attentive and helpful staff. Excellent breakfast. Always a pleasure to stay at Chateau Les Muids as it is comfortable and relaxing.
The large television on the fire place somewhat spoilt the ambiance of the room

The building and setting is beautiful
The bathroom is very fitting and authentic for the room but shower was tricky to use as hand held not fitted overhead.

We were looking for a dog friendly stop over and this was perfect. Lovely setting with walks to exercise the dog. The staff were all very friendly and helpful even though our French isn’t very good. Enjoyed our meal in the restaurant, lovely food and service.
The room was lovely but a little small.

The bedding was clean and the toilet paper good quality.
The pictures on the website must have been taken a long time ago as the place looked nothing like that when we visited. The outside of the building is quite run down and the grounds are overgrown and need a lot of attention. The room we stayed in was in a block outside and doesn't appear in any of the pictures on the website. There was too much furniture and that was cheap and tatty, (not shabby chic). I couldn't see any extractor fan in the bathroom or any smoke detector in the bedroom. There was no wall fitting for the shower attachment so my husband had to hold it over me so that I could shower and I did the same for him. The paint was peeling off the windows and door and there was damp in one corner of the room. We found an open packet of mouldy cheese in the fridge. When I took this to the lady on reception, she wasn't unduly bothered and said that her colleague must have forgotten to check the fridge. So I take it the fridge wasn't cleaned after the last occupants left then?! There was no apology. We sat outside for as long as we could as the room was quite depressing but the metal chair that my husband was sitting on started to fall apart as the screws were completely rusty and pulled through the holes in the metal seat slats. This wasn't a cheap option hotel and was neither value for money or a great experience.

On arrival I was about to be shown a room outside the Chateau, but on my request, because my wife is handicapped ,we were accommodated in the chateau near the lounge, bar and restaurant. We very much enjoyed the dinner. The breakfast was also good if a little pricey. the staff throughout our staywere very helpful.

Staff were friendly and helpful. The downstairs area and small bar were inviting and better than the upstairs.
The room was tired and for the price should have been a lot better.
The Hotel generally felt a little run down. The breakfast was over priced so didn't bother to try it !
