Pleasant 1-night stay after a bumpy start.

The wonderful Lily and walking distance to shops, eateries, beach & harbour.

You do get what you pay for, and the property needs renovated, but being allocated a dark, ground floor room with no balcony/outlook on check-in, rather than the upstairs much superior room we had booked many months prior was a disappointment. We think the owner had double booked the room but blamed ‘Booking.Com’ for the room allocation… First time we’ve been spun that yarn in 15 years of bookings with them! The situation was rectified by Lily, head of housekeeping taking action & contacting the owner, Alex. What a kind and beautiful lady! The owner, should certainly take notice of how to deal with and speak to his customers from Lily, and even put her in charge of the booking system for you.

Convenient guesthouse in Hout Bay

The guesthouse is located in a quiet area of Hout Bay. To go Hout Bay Habour market you need a car, but there are some restaurants near the guesthouse in walking distance. The good breakfast is served in a nice little Cafe across the street. The room was very well sized and comfortable and the entire house has a beautiful architecture.

It was a bit difficult to find the entrance and the parking spots as there was no sign or we did not see it.

Lilly the caretaker was wonderful.. Kind, efficient.. Lodge is well situated to the beach/harbour, town etc.. Lovely town . It gets very noisey at nite with all the trucks, cars & the scooters , at kfc.. But all in all it was a super stay.. 👌😍🙏

The price and location were good. The host was responsive when we needed to get back into our room after checking out.

The house was full and very noisy. One guest was playing music on a speaker late into the night and outside and then inside the house. There were a lot of children in the house. Bedding and linen was quite worn out.

A cozy and welcoming stay

I stayed one night at Brightwater Lodge and was warmly welcomed by the hosts. The room was clean, comfortable, and full of character, with everything I needed. Despite being close to shops and restaurants, it was peaceful and relaxing. A lovely place with a personal touch—I’d happily return for a longer stay.

A Perfect Landing Spot after a long flight

Excellent central location steps from restaurants and grocery stores. Alex was a huge help in recommending local hikes and activities. Staff is very warm and kind.

Okay town, but no breakfast!

There was no breakfast, even though booking.com assured me that it would be there. The photos of the breakfast were beautiful and desishous looking. But the property had been sold and no breakfast was available due to the off season and the the host not being aware of the breakfast included option with booking.com The location was nice. With a rental car we were able to see the cliff drive, and we walked along the beach to a restaurant at night.

There was no breakfast, and this is specifically why I booked this location. The photos of breakfast (which have sice been removed) were fantastic and I thought that would be good for jetlagged travelers.

Everything was perfect. Well decorated room and breakfast area, very clean, friendly staff, nice neighbourhood. We even had our own little terrace! We will recommend this place.

Breakfast was good. Room not very nice. Bathroom lights did not work 1st night. Shower in bath very uncomfortable and not very safe to get in and out. Shower cold first night and fridge did not work.

Wish we were back there already!

Brightwater was absolutely beautiful and breathtaking! We booked the apartment, which was clean, fresh and so welcoming when we arrived. The views of the mountain from the balcony are also lovely. The staff was very pleasant and super helpful with information about the area. The lodge is well centered and accessible to restaurants and shops, as well as the bay for an afternoon walk. We really did not want to leave, and hope to be back soon. My only suggestion would be to put a table and chairs on the balcony for guests to enjoy the sunshine and views. We used the inside chairs which worked, but a table would've been great too. Thank you to Alex & team for a wonderful stay!

The host was extremely helpful and welcoming, the accommodation was neat, clean and comfortable.

Breakfast was very nice, just cold on some mornings (eg. bacon). There was an unpleasant smell in the room, like the smell of stinky feet (not sure if carpets need a deep clean?).
