Beautiful location, peaceful but within a 10 minute walk of the beach front with some lovely restaurants. Staff are very helpful and friendly and the rooms are spacious . 10 minutes taxi to table mountain and 20 to the V and A waterfront in Cape Town

This is an incredibly beautiful and well-maintained property with breathtaking views! There was always someone working in the vegetable garden or the other gardens and the walking trails are so unique and special that you could really spend a whole day just exploring the hotel itself. The terrace overlooking the sea and the sunset is perfect for spending the evening. The breakfast at the hotel was delicious, and the restaurant in general is amazing! All the staff were friendly and helpful. We enjoyed using the two swimming pools and a very special mountain pool. The welcome massage was very relaxing and was accompanied by a fruit plate and tea – a very nice touch. This part of the city is very safe, and you can also enjoy Camps Bay Tidal Pool (a 10-minute walk from the hotel), which is great for swimming and has a playground next to it—ideal if you're traveling with children.

I have stayed in this hotel several times, going back to 2019.
I think it's one the most special & unique hotel property in Cape Town.
I like that you feel like you are still in nature, & close to the ocean, and not in a city.
Amazing gardens & easy beach access.
Rooms are very reasonably priced, and on-site staff are all very nice, and helpful when possible.
My honest feedback for management:
The hotels identity feels a bit like a frankenstein design project. You have this main beautiful old manor, in old colonial style, with lush gardens, really feels like an oasis. But on the other hand you have these other rooms which feel like vacation rental airbnb's, and give a bit of a cheap feeling. There is no brand unity, it feels like you're staying in a mis -mash.
I truly think the hotel has such great potential to be on the next level, but it has to decide what type of experience it's going for. It needs a revamp to bring everything into one collective identity.
Other points: impossible to communicate with someone prior to arrival. Booking.com response rate very poor.
Padel court: There is no point of advertising the padel court, if non-guests people fully book out the entire court 1 week in advance on Playtomic. Have at least 1/2 hours a day reserved only for guests, otherwise again, you are just running a sports club on hotel grounds, adding to the mis-mash identity feeling.
Bonus: consider adding a small gym.

Great location, the views are great and there’s lots of different areas to explore. The staff were friendly and tried to help as much as possible.
I booked the best suite as a celebration for our recent engagement, however the week before was told that suite was no longer available and reduced to a smaller one. They offered massages and some sparkling wine as an acknowledgment but it wasn’t made clear there would be a reimbursement until I asked for it. I’m still waiting for that reimbursement to be organised a few weeks later.

Friendly, attentive staff. A lovely breakfast and restaurant. Brilliant location and super convenient access to Camps Bay. Very calm setting and extensive grounds, with lovely views. Lovely toiletries - I bought several to bring home.
Several flights of stairs to take the pram up and down. Something to consider for anyone with accessibility issues. Unfortunately the Padel court was booked up for our 3 night stay, except one slot in middle of the day. Staff did all they could to ensure we had a slot, but just a note that unless booked early, you may not be able to play with ease.

the photos don't do this hotel justice it is absolutely stunning! Views to die for! Amazing food, 5 pools to choose from.
We didn't like the first room we stayed in as it was next to the road but moved to a room in the Manor House which was sensational!

Tired and in need of refurbishment. Aircon and Hairdryer both malfunctioned whilst we were there.

Wonderful mix of old style charm in main Manor House and the modern rooms equipped with every home comfort and more. Very relaxed feel and super attentive staff. So lovely to be able to walk to busy Camps Bay and beach but be able to escape back to the quiet secluded gardens of the retreat.

This place is amazing, much better than the pictures! Views are stunning, staff is super friendly and helpful, location is great, quiet but close to camps bay and 5 min down to the beach through the hotel gardens, very safe and relax. We really enjoy the jacuzzi with the views. Food is delicious, lovely breakfast, continental from buffet plus hot meal from kitchen, all super fresh, same for lunch and dinner, quality of the food is amazing, as most of south africa. A great value for money. They is a little vintage swing that our little one enjoy so much while we had our coffee in the garden. If you are thinking to come you must. We also use the pool, it was a bit cool but 20 degrees here gets really hot😂 highly recommended especially with kids. You also have the hop on bus stop next to the hot just in case you want to get to Cape town
Leave, we definetly come back another time in Cape Town.

I absolutely loved my stay at Camps Bay Retreat. Every detail — from the lush surroundings to the impeccable amenities — felt next-level. My villa with the wood-fired hot tub was pure perfection, and the views made it hard to leave. The spa’s Grape Therapy Massage package was easily one of the best treatments I’ve had anywhere — deeply relaxing and beautifully done.
The food was consistently five-star — fresh, flavorful, and worthy of a fine-dining experience. The entire property feels like a secret sanctuary tucked away from the world, yet close enough to explore Cape Town. Truly unforgettable — I can’t wait to come back.
There was nothing I didn't like. It is one of the best stays I've had in a very long time.

Great location and manor house & grounds are just beautiful. Fabulous views of the sea and sunset. In-room amenities were great (hot tub, coffee and tea, delicious rusks!). Breakfast was more than sufficient. Staff were very friendly.
Check-in was a faff - the bell at the gate did not work, we had to walk around to find someone. We chased a departing cleaner who finally found a guard to let us in. Our rooms were not ready at 17:30 (we announced our arrival time days in advance) and we had to sit in lobby waiting - at least there was a welcome cocktail (which was much appreciated). Tiles in the shower (villa 9) are super slippery, the room & bathroom furniture feels really cheap or has poor craftmanship. The wooden blinds immediately next to the bed do not block the morning sun.

Stayed at the main building. It’s a historical masterpiece from a bygone era. The room was gorgeous with three balconies and a sea view. Many thanks to Damien, Janine, Benson and last but not least Shafeka from housekeeping. Thank you to all the staff members of the hotel and restaurant for the great service and for providing us with the necessary assistance when we needed it. Hope to see you all very soon.
Everything was perfect

Beautiful property less than 5 minutes walk from the beach at Camps Bay. It is just out of the noisy central Camps Bay area so is a perfect place to relax. If you want bars and restaurants you can be there with a 10 minute walk. The main historic house has lovely wood panelled rooms and a outdoor bar area looking over the bay. The rooms are spread across several villas throughout the green tree lined grounds accessible across a rope bridge. The staff were very attentive and could not do enough to help us. Breakfasts were excellent and we ate in the restaurant one night and the Malay food was amazing. There are also spa facilities and a padel court. A fabulous experience.
We would have liked the rooms to have been together but they were busy later in the week. Our kids loved the villas which were very clean and modern with their own small pools.

We loved the homely feel of the main hotel, log fires and zebra skins. The staff were so kind and helpful. The spa treatments lovely and very relaxing. Walking round the grounds was a joy - hidden gems of pools and swings for adults to play on.
Being winter in capetown I think the dining room could do with an upgrade. The menu for dinner wasn’t very inspiring, but we were so tired that it didn’t matter. We had such a lovely suite - we should have ordered room service.
There are glass bottles for the shower products. That is really commendable from a sustainability perspective, it really dangerous when they slip out of your hands and smash around your feet….
