Giethoorn Old Art Hotel

Breakfast was pretty good and decent. Room was very clean. Hotel is on a main pedestrian and canal stretch that leads to the main village, as well as being very close to the main car park and supermarket, so a great location!

Since we were up in the eaves of the building, it would've helped if we had airconditioning during our stay, as the air temperature at the time was very hot. I'm not sure why, but the guy responsible for making up our room prior to our early check-in, made up the wrong room, which delayed our early check-in. When he did make up our room, he also put a large single topper mattress over our twin beds, which were put together, forming what was effectively a double bed. My partner and I actually booked a twin bed room, as we normally prefer 2 single beds we can put together, each with their own mattresses and bedding, as this helps us get to sleep better. Anyway, we were only there a single night, and we managed to get a relatively good nights sleep with the windows wide open to help cool us down. The shower in the bathroom could do with a little floor redesign, or the installation of a shower curtain to prevent water from flooding the rest of the bathroom every time you take a shower.

Walkable to the village center but not in it.

Breakfast is decent enough, although the scrambled eggs tasted weird. Poffertjes and croissants were nice. And the restaurant is a nice place to have breakfast.

Price! I get that you pay for the location as in being directly in Giethoorn, but the room was definitely not worth the money we paid for it. Rooms are small and the mattresses did not have a lot of support. Very noisy. We could hear everything what was happening in the adjacent rooms. And I mean everything. My advice, visit Giethoorn as a day trip. You don’t need an hotel. Giethoorn is a very small village en you can see everything within the day. Then you don’t have to pay €175 for a night for a €75 room.
