Tabist TOKYO CITY VIEW HOTEL

This hotel is perfect for those who don't mind a smaller room but really want to see a lot of Tokyo. The hotel is only about 5-10 minutes away from Tabata station on foot, and from there you can access the Yamanote line and get pretty much anywhere. The staff were super helpful and kind, letting us know how to book shinkansen tickets and access luggage forwarding. They also provide you with a ton of amenities and free drink coins if there isn't water in your room. The room itself is quite small but it's to be expected. There's enough storage space under the bed for 2 or 3 large suitcases. The room was clean and comfortable for sleeping.

The hotel itself was lovely it just took some getting used to! The bed was kind of flat but it's something that is common there so we got used to it. The staff did offer an extra pillow as well which made it more comfortable. Please note (not a mark against the hotel) that you will have to walk up a hill or a set of stairs to access the hotel so keep it in mind for heavy or large luggage. One thing we might like to see is luggage forwarding directly from the hotel. I believe you can do this from the airport to this hotel but if you are changing hotels midway through your trip you will have to do it externally. However this did not dampen our experience, simply something that could be considered!

The location in regards to the train was very convenient. Do not be put off by the 'the hill is so steep' comments of others. It is actually very manageable, even for an older chick like me. The amenities and the small Onsen were fabulous. Yes, there was some train noise, and I was on the 8th floor, but I had read about that and bought earplugs with me. Yes, the room was tiny, but as a solo traveller it was fine. The bath tub was very little, but as a short woman, it worked. One of the staff members could do with some extra training, she assumed a lot, but the rest of the staff were very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was great every day. I would say for a budget style, convenient to central Tokyo base, it was very good value for money.

As mentioned, a bit of extra training for one staff member who assumed that I knew what was going on in regards to the Onsen, the breakfast and the other details - she said "I gave you a paper to read", um, yeah, after travelling a fair way, I did not sit down and read your piece of paper...perhaps you could explain it to me like I am a tourist? But, we worked through that. I would stay here again, now that I understand how things work...
