The views, being in centre of Ambleside, well equipped.
OUR BOOKING WAS FOR 23-30 JANUARY 2026. Access to property was difficult. Very steep climb up a road with our luggage as we used public transport. My husband has dementia and can no longer drive. I asked if we could get into property a little earlier due to bus times and the message we got was, Request Denied. We didn’t get access to the property until 4.31pm as we were not sent the key safe code and I had to phone Sykes to obtain it. I was then told that we were denied access due to cleaning schedules and later found out from a flat owner that there was nobody staying in Walkers Retreat the previous week so I doubt any cleaners attended on Friday 23rd our arrival day.
Short cut through garden and down steps wasn’t an option as the gate was locked at bottom and couldn’t get the lock to open with code. Signage for property very poor. Mattress hard and uncomfortable. Not cleaned properly with dust, cobwebs and mould which had not been cleaned for a very, very long time. Shower head in bathroom filthy and there were silverfish in bath too. Unpleasant smell in bathroom when we arrived. Lots of noise for two early mornings right outside bedroom windows due to work being carried out on neighbouring properties, scaffold being erected, loud workmen. I reported the problems to Sykes who contacted the owner while we were still there and the owners wanted proof of the dirt, dust, mould etc, which I sent while we were still there. One of the owners came to apologise to us regarding the disruption due to scaffolding etc on behalf of the owners but it was too little too late. The owners refused compensation because they said we didn’t report it while we’re still there which is not true and the dates on emails and phone records prove that we did. Still waiting for a reply from Sykes to my response. I WOULD LIKE TO SHOW MORE PHOTOS BUT ONLY ALLOWS ME TO SEND 4

Great flat within 5 mins walk of Ambleside township. Very nice kitchen. Great views. Had a parking space.
The parking space isn’t for the faint hearted. Was narrow and difficult to get in to, requires good reversing skills. A small amount of clothes washing powder would have been appreciated.

Great Location and view. Nice little patio with table and chairs. Excellent facilities (kitchen, utility room etc). Very clean & tidy.
Parking. Very tight space with little room for other vehicles to pass to other bays. Best suited to a small car.

The flat was clean and comfortable and warm, there was a plentiful supply of hot water,. An easy walk into town, good views.
Small things, a fire guard would be useful also a tea pot and another small table next to the sofa. Finding the flat was a bit of a problem the entrance was marked as private and we could not see the signage but perhaps that was because of the builders vans in the drive of the house near the flats that is being renovated.

Super location. Large apartment. Great views of surrounding countryside. Great extras like maps and walking guides and games.
Poor sound proofing from apartment above. I realise this is tricky to alter.

Wonderful view! A short stroll from Ambleside center but green & quiet around you. Cosy apartment. Private parking (very small but at least right at the house)

Gorgeous property, the patio was great come rain or shine! It is the perfect location in Ambleside and a real gem. Bedrooms are good-sized and we were lovely and warm all week.
- Could do with a couple more kitchen essentials like oil, sugar and tea.
- Frying pan wasn’t useable as it smoked when we tried it on the hob.

Position was excellent in Ambleside. Really really clean and there was a fantastic bunch of lilies left for us. Bed was really comfortable and loads of heaters so it was always warm with somewhere to hang the coats to dry !
Whilst it was great it has parking, there should be something asking about size of car. We were lucky after calling the office when we arrived we could park over 2 spaces. If not as we were the first in the row we would have blocked everyone else from parking.

Cosy, warm home from home with amazing fell views. Central yet quiet. Wifi and everything you need for a relaxing break.
Bedroom smelt mouldy. It's a lower ground floor flat with steps down, and there are steps indoors up to the bedrooms, this needs to be made clearer in the advert as less mobile people booking a ground floor flat might find it problematic.
