Beautiful location but accommodation in desperate need of an upgrade and mattresses unsleepable

The accommodation was pretty dreadful - the beds were incredibly uncomfortable with very little springs in very old mattresses. The room we had was probably over 40 years old and in desperate need of an upgrade.

Comfy Stay

Beds really soft and comfy.

Duvets far too thin, was really cold until i found an extra duvet in cupboard in lounge. Couldn't find any recycling facilities..spent all week washing up and saving all our recycling..then couldn't find anywhere on site, and having transported it all down to Aberfoyle, none there either other than for glass. Really poor in this regard.

The location and the surroundings. The large spacious apartments perfect for my family of 5. The staff are very friendly. The beds were very comfortable.

It’s a little out dated and the leisure facilities were a bit run down compared to previous visits. Missing tiles in pool, steam room and shower. The oven and hob in the apartment were very difficult to work and not great condition.

Room was very dated, a lot of wear and tear. Menu was quite limited - no chicken options available when we were there. The meal was good, but was overpriced for the quality.

Everything about it… we stayed in this hotel earlier this year and came back again as we loved it so much. Will be back again.

If at all I have to mention anything perhaps the check in time a bit early and the check out time an hour late would be great in winter. Otherwise everything was great.

Fire alarm going on at night then again at 4am. Menu does have adult macaroni cheese. Plus no steak pie or chicken pie. Was really looking forward to it. As we had few times before.

apartment had various maintenance issues which we reported but nothing was done to rectify them. No one contacted us to discuss these problems. Basically felt let down by the overall standard and was definitely not worth what we paid.

Great loch side location, spacious lodge, friendly staff but in need of a bit of TLC in some places.

Fantastic location! The staff were all so friendly and brilliant with our kids and dog. The swimming pool was great.

We stayed in a spacious two bed lodge with everything we needed. A bit dated though the electric shower downstairs didn’t work, and the en-suite kept slipping off its wall mount but the site was lovely. Tennis courts could do with a bit of an update. Food was nice but a bit overpriced, a real ‘captive audience’ situation! Great loch side location and much nicer than Ullswater (stayed here previously) we definitely should have come to Aberfoyle instead of wasting money there in the summer. Plus, just a short drive to Aberfoyle for cafes and other food options and beautiful places close by.

Beautiful setting, facilities all in good order, fantastic for multi generational family Pool and spa facilities were well looked after with access for children most of the day. Definitely go back. Espresso martinis at bar excellent too We stayed in a 2 bed apartment Silverbirch block.

Embarassing

Location, staff were good, pool is good!

Though the apartment was in a terrible condition, carpet was old, discoloured and stained in many places, the place smelled like people had smoked there but perhaps years ago.. decorated like it was the 80s couldn’t believe that a four star hotel doesn’t regularly refurbish their apartments.. other minor things added to the feeling that the place was neglected: paint work, balcony rusting, scratched unusable (non stick) frying pan, wood panelling on the bath disintegrating, mould on the floor tiles.. I will say I never gave the hotel the opportunity to redress any of this at the time. We got into the apartment late, i had to cook dinner for my daughter and then get her to sleep in quick order. But I also thought the next day this isn’t simply addressed by moving room or whatever, a place like this should not be charging good money for those apartments. For the location I wanted so much for it to have been a good stay. Refurb the apartments! Embarrassed to imagine tourists visiting Scotland and staying in this place

Little piece of heaven hidden in Scotland

Wow, really lived up to expectations and more! The space was incredible! Three bathrooms for two bedrooms and one had a sauna… luxurious furnishings, kitchen went above and beyond with things you might need for self catering. Everything clean and comfortable. Set in gorgeous landscape and not far from Aberfoyle. Little walk nearby was a delightful little find.

Mix up with the kick out time. We were told 11 by reception but should have been 10 - a little embarrassing when you’re getting dressed at 10:30 and someone knocks on the door to start cleaning down - yikes! But mistakes happen and not a reflection on property as such.

Great base for a family holiday in the Trossachs

Location was lovely, tranquil setting with Loch views. Stayed in one of the apartments, good and spacious layout, kitchen well equipped. Staff were all super friendly and helpful throughout our stay.

Fold away bed in the living room was very uncomfortable, wifi and TV reception a bit patchy, and leisure facilities (tennis courts, table tennis hall, sports hall, pool and sauna) all rather tired.

The lodge was fairly comfortable, but the furniture and some appliances needed improving.

The one night we were there (should have been 4) was comfortable, the view from the lodge was good, and the staff were friendly.

There was a total power failure during the first night, and as it wasn't due to be restored till two days later, we decided to leave. We were told that we would be able to get a part refund but have not heard anything yet.

Perfect little trip with our large pup!

The size of the apartment was great (a couple and a large dog - Bernese), loved the little balcony with an excellent view. Food at the restaurant was very good as well. Great to have a place so accommodating of dogs.

Nothing major, it was a good fit for us to explore the walks around the area with the dog. I think the apartment could use a little modernizing but it was more than adequate for us.
