A nice hotel with friendly helpful staff and lovely outdoor space. Breakfast was delightful, and the overall facilities were well maintained, making for a comfortable stay.

Myself and 13 year old son, stayed here for two nights. We were celebrating his birthday and we had a lovely couple of nights. Room was beautiful and spacious. Staff couldn’t be more helpful. We look forward to staying again in the future.

Booked this deal through Agoda and was surprised by the reception staff when they upgraded our room to a castle room for the benefit of my 7 year old daughter who had never stayed in a luxurious castle before. We were presented with the ‘Neilson Room’ and the views outside and the tasteful decor did not disappoint. The castle grounds were well maintained. Not one weed, rubbish or disposed chewing gum could be seen on the paving stones. The interior was equally well maintained. Dinner at the Trocadero was a lovely experience. The art deco style theme was evident throughout and the entertainment of the Flapper Girls dancing in the dining area was a captivating spectacle for my daughter and other diners. The food was cooked to perfection and the offer of olives and crisp breads to accompany our entrance drink was a nice touch. My daughter who like most 7 year olds tends to favour chicken nuggets was impressed with flavour of both these items, asking me to source them for her when we got home. Drinks and service at the dinner was good, however my only criticism would be that no one came over to check if we would like anymore drinks after our initial ones at the bar. My assumption was that because we weren’t drinking wine, they thought that we were only drinking water. Nevertheless, I did not try to catch their attention either as I had my daughter with me, so I just left it. All staff were very friendly and receptive and the breakfast we had the next morning was cooked to perfection. Once again, the surroundings were fabulous and it made the overall experience for my daughter magical. To top off her experience, she rolled down the hill and managed to cover herself in wet grass! Prior to our check-in the staff had given us details of a horse riding school for my daughter to take part in a riding lesson. Whilst we didn’t do the riding at the place recommended, we did do a pony dad at Burnbank Equestrian Centre which is about 13 mins drive away from Crossbasket Castle. My daughter thoroughly enjoyed that day as the weather was nice and she was able to go on a trek with a friend. The timing of that fitted in well with check-in at 3pm. Overall a great experience and very relaxing. Would love to visit again once the spa facilities open as that would really make for a magical experience for my daughter. Thank you Crossbasket Castle for a lovely time and for the free room upgrade.
