Lovely period property. Stunning views and surroundings
We stayed in the lodge. We paid an upgrade to include an en-suite bathroom. The door to the room appeared loose and when walking on the bedroom floor, or when people walked past in the corridor, the door would rattle. We went for a drink in the bar, but despite being residents at the hotel we were not allowed to sit in the large adjoining rooms, which are beautiful and had spectacular views, as they were all booked for afternoon tea guests. The bar seating is minimal with only 2 or 3 comfy chairs and 3 bar stools. Some guests left without purchasing a drink due, to there being no seating. The service was slow, although I do not blame the staff, as they were working extremely hard and were run off their feet serving in the other rooms.

Loved the views and the quirkiness of the hotel and lodge
It could have been great with just a few little touches.. it felt as though the staff lacked guidance, they were young and doing their very best but no one seemed to be in charge.

A picturesque destination for a peaceful, magical stay. The chateau is perched by the sea with wonderful views. The staff are outstanding and the food is delicious.
The water takes a long time to come through warm...so you need to be patient.

Lovely building with a cracking location; if you’re lucky enough to stay when the weather is fine there are great views across the water to the mountains.
Not far (just about walkable) from the town of Menai Bridge which has some good restaurants.
Breakfast was decent but could be a bit better and I think it could get a bit busy round the toaster when the hotel is full.

Staff - very attentive especially Erica and Lewis
Evening meal and restaurant - disappointing meal. Overcooked and limited choice. Restaurant very bland and lifeless not what we expected compared to the rest of the beautiful building. Rooms upstairs were very welcoming and stunning views. Maybe need to change location of restaurant to appreciate views more

Beautiful hotel, with so much character. Wonderful views across the straits.
Couldn't fault anything, other than the draught beer being not available.

We had a disaster at another hotel and ended up here by fluke, best disaster ever! from Clare welcoming us with a lovely log fire, to us upgrading to the beautiful courtyard room in the main house, The Australian/south African bar tender was really great and chatty and my partner had a really good chat with the night porter who was telling him lots about the hotel history. Breakfast was 10/10 and we explored the gardens and the stunning views of the Meani, we will be coming back xx
Loved every minute wish we would have booked here first x

Perfect location, all 8 stages of our Guest Experience met, with exceptional hospitality professionalism from check in, to departure in a snowy morning up the steep drive to the rear of property beside the lodge, there were two female personnel members shivering the snow away from motor wheels and ensuring the drive was salted adequately, cannot thank both of them enough. Hence why we returned for a second stay the following week.
Chateau Rhianfa is a very romantic hotel with stunning architecture, beautiful grounds and very comfortable interior. Both of our rooms were very modernised, stylish and very comfortable beds. Perfect infact we give this a perfect five star 10/10 score, best local hotel experience we have had in many years, on par with Bodysgallen Hall & Spa, only more personability and guest care on a down to earth very approachable level. We also loved the Welsh breakfast, especially the flavoursome unique black pudding has to be the best ever tasted. Will most definitely return and highly recommend to all colleagues and friends.
Absolutely nothing, we genuinely love this haven, now a true favourite of ours.

Unique setting and architecture- leads to a wonderful experience, like you are sleeping in a castle from a fairy tale

Culinary experience in an uniquely fabulous establishment of dramatic settings.
The loud English male voice coming from a group of three women and one male.
As my husband's birthday treat arrived, the afternoon tea, the comment of "a heart attack waiting to happen" echoed around the room for all to hear. Incredibly crass I thought! Of course, as this was the behaviour of a male customer it is beyond the establishments means the unpredictable shallowness and ignorance of this man. He absolutely failed to understand the establishments offerings of high quality culinary experiences,

Views and location, the style and unique features of the hotel. The staff were excellent.
The evening meal was disappointing, will probably eat out the next time. Breakfast was innovative and really nice.

Beautiful properly, gardens and setting on Anglesea overlooking the Menai Straits. The room was a good size very clean comfortable and well decorated the turret shower huge. Exploring the building and the rooms was fascinating and you could relax in the huge well furnished rooms (music room etc) The breakfast was fantastic. The waitress at breakfast was very friendly and welcoming.
Dinner prices are quite high so we ate out. Reception only had 1 staff member to check-in who was on the phone for quite a while dealing with a prospective wedding booking (this appears to be priority wedding bookings) this delayed checking in quite a bit. Another younger member of staff was very welcoming and chatted whilst we waited.

Breathtaking location, views, rooms and grounds.
Perhaps a wider menu choice, less formal dining options? Le Dragon Rouge offers excellent food but no alternative such as bar food?

The chateau and grounds are in a great location and incredibly beautiful, it was definitely worth staying to be able to see the chateau and we think it would probably be a fantastic wedding venue. The staff were truly lovely.
I've been unsure whether to leave a review as I have worked in hospitality myself and I know that chefs and hospitality workers work really hard. However, I worked extra shifts at my low paying NHS jobs to be able to afford this trip and it was supposed to be really special for my husband and I, and unfortunately there were a few things that just spoiled the experience. Firstly, the three course meal was bad value for money. At £70pp we expected a lot better. The menu described all these fancy dishes but the food barely tasted of anything, and the duck only came with one miserly piece of potato. We were actually shocked at the quality and wondered what breakfast would taste like. I ordered scrambled eggs with chorizo and weirdly, again, it just didn't taste of much. We even briefly wondered if we had lost our sense of taste but we had snacks in the car that we could taste!
The second problem was that we were unable to sleep all night due to noise in the pipes. For a good couple of hours we thought there were fireworks going off in the distance but it turned out to actually be the pipes. We were not in the main chateau but the lodge. In the morning we did tell the lady on reception and she was apologetic and said we could have rung to change rooms, however we were unaware that the front desk was manned 24/7. So what was meant to be a romantic weekend turned into a sleepless disaster.

Very beautiful hotel steeped in history.
Amazing views across the Menai Straits.
Handy location, comfortable room.
Parking was very awkward.
Breakfast service was quite late as it didn’t start until 8am so we ended up leaving before we got chance to eat. It would be much better to offer an earlier service from say 6.30am.

The history behind it, the stunning views & the room decor was designed well to suit the style of the chateau.
On arrival, the meet & greet was really poor. We felt unwelcome & dismissed after a 7 hour drive. We arrived at 2pm to be told we couldn’t check in. This was fine but we felt we could have been asked if we would like anything - tea/coffee etc. She just felt cold. I think her name was Clara or Clare. Once it was time to go to the room she was a bit more polite but we felt like maybe she’d reflected on her initial behaviour.

staff were very good
the room in general, which included it being far too hot due to the array of pipes running around the ceiling. the carpet was soaked, due to a leak from the floor above. a wardrobe with barely any depth to it & no drawers for our clothes! The breakfast was lukewarm & there was no skimmed milk or plain yogurt available.

Hotel has loads of character and beautiful grounds down to the river. Comfortable room of decent size. Buffet breakfast was useful for a fast departure for the Irish ferry.
Parking at the front of the hotel is limited and quite tight to get into. It looked as if there might be alternative parking below the hotel.

Lovely historic building overlooking the Menai Straights. The lounge areas were particularly impressive with lots of character. We appreciate the efforts of the owners in trying to preserve the Chateau.
The dining room lacked character and atmosphere. It felt drab. The hotel itself would benefit from a little TLC.

Beautiful building excellent dinner great breakfast. Staff great and location with fantastic views would recommend.
Housed in annex which was nice but room. small and very little storage, OK for couple of days but over that would have be an issue as not enough clothes storage.

Great location, rooms lovely
No a la carte menu on Sunday. Few staff on ; not very professionally run. Evening meal very average, just needed more staff and the sort of service you would expect of such a hotel

Our room was in the new lodge, small but well equipped with great views from the bedroom of the river. The bathroom was very clean with nice toiletries. We had a lovely meal in the restaurant and the staff were very attentive. Good breakfast. The grounds of the chateau and well maintained.
There are quite a lot of steps to access the lodge, if you park at the top car park by reception. There is a lower car pack with slops leading up to the lodge and chateau.

A special place to stay. I especially loved the balconies, gardens and reading nooks!
The only negative aspect of this stay was that the Welsh breakfast was provided buffet style and was too cold.

A beautiful unique and idyllic romantic place to stay full of history. Exceptional food and dining service. A charming chateau full of character and nooks for exploring. Beautiful grounds overlooking the estuary.
The room we stayed in the lodge was not the cleanest - bugs in bathroom and around windows, mirror not clean, would benefit from a makeover.
Restaurant is in desperate need of makeover and renovation, and the furniture in the drawing rooms needs updating by new owners. Needs some investment to take hotel forward over next 5 years
