Viktor Rooms

Fantastic location and the host is very helpful and kind. The shared bathroom is cleaned quite frequently which is nice. The owner let me store my luggage there until my bus at night.

The room had a lot of cobwebs, which made it feel a little dusty but the sheets and towels were clean!

Viktor Rooms is located a stone's throw from the River Gate of Kotor. It was quite easy to find. There is a kitchen in the hallway to use and the bathroom is located nearby. I thought my room was comfortable. I'm not sure if the cat lives there... there are a lot of cats in Kotor!... but there was a talkative and affectionate black and white cat who accompanied me for dinner and breakfast. The human host was helpful and I was able to pay with a credit card which is not that common in Montenegro.

The place is practically at the old town, few minutes walking from the bus station and 6 minutes walking from the port. Matija also the other guy who received us and the lady who was cleaning the place were very nice! The room was very comfy, air con and mattress were pretty good. We were very welcomed and informations were provided pretty clear. Kitchen was basic but nothing missed for us. We stayed there only one night but was enough to make a good friendship with Matija who is a wonderful person.

To not be able to stay longer ;-) I had a small problem with the hot/ cold water after midnight. I took shower with cold water but in the following day was normalised. Nothing to worry.

I chose this location based on the proximity to the Old City and the fact that it had an AC, and in those respects, it totally matched my expectations. One man who seemed to work there also helped recommend a laundromat to me, which was quite kind. You had access to a fridge, freezer, and glasses, so that's something too!

Foremost, I think that the price is really unjustifiable - I have been in insanely more comfortable and hospitable accommodations at a fraction of the cost. If the price were in half, I probably would up this to a 7 or even 8, but at 80 dollars a night, it's kind of outrageous what you get. The mattress was a spring mattress that made it really difficult to sleep because I kept feeling them when I would lay down, so the nights were full of endless tossing and turning to find a comfortable spot. Unfortunately, the day I came, there was a fire in Hercog Novi which apparently impacted the water, meaning that there was no running water from the sink, shower, and most importantly, toilet. Now, I can't blame anyone over a fire, but I truly don't understand why they couldn't have messaged to warn us in advance and allow us to adjust our plans accordingly (i.e. shower at a previous place, etc). I arrived around maybe 7pm, but apparently that had been going on since the morning according to some French teens who were there, so...I really didn't understand that. Again, for 80 bucks a night, you expect something, but the second night I was there, they left bags of dirty laundry all in front of the rooms...which blocked off a table. There were more tables, but it was 80 USD a night. I think, more than anything though, the service just wasn't really friendly, which is something that myself and some others I spoke with noticed.
