Just minutes from the small town of Cruz Bay, with its restaurants and shopping, ideally situated on St. John's scenic southeastern shore and deliberately facing into the cooling trade winds...Andante is nestled on a shelf carved into the living rock directly above beautiful Hart Bay... high enough to look down on birds in flight... low enough to hear the sounds of the sea.
Architected in modified Mediterranean-style with accents of native stone, Andante is unusual in that, while ensuring privacy, its panoramic decks offer spectacular views of both sunrise and sunset... a full 270-degrees from glittering St. Thomas, east to Rams head!
There are three large bedrooms, all with sea views, private decks, full baths, and air conditioning. A king-size bed and rattan furnishings with a Victorian flair grace the primary bedroom along with a private deck. The two guest bedrooms have private decks and king beds easily converted to comfortable twins.
The villa is tastefully furnished throughout in contemporary tropical rattan, teak and eclectic accents from around the world. Vaulted cypress-beamed ceilings, natural Scabos travertine floor tiles and Hi-speed overhead fans accent the great room, kitchen, and two upper bedrooms.
The fully-equipped gourmet kitchen includes up-to-date stainless steel appliances, an electric ceramic top range/convection & conventional oven, built-in microwave, dishwasher, side-by-side refrigerator/freezer with ice maker/dispenser, whole house triple filtered and UV irradiated water systems, 'steaming hot' water dispenser, blender, coffee maker, bread maker, and espresso/cappuccino machine. A fully-automatic stainless steel gas grill and outdoor dining area for dinner under the stars is a few steps away on a trellised patio.
The pergolas on the pool deck and dining deck have been completely redone, affording even more filtering of the sun.
The pool and hot tub are surrounded by an expansive new coral-tiled deck, cantilevered into the cliff on the west side of the property for maximum views and breeze. Arise in the early morning, frolic in either, and appreciate the dramatic colors of sunrise. In the evening, sip champagne as the sounds of mellow jazz surround you and marvel at the complexity and beauty of the sunset and the clarity of the stars, while you are simultaneously warmed in the hot tub and cooled in the breezes of the ocean.
Andante comes equipped with everything you will need for a relaxed island vacation. Linens, towels, phone, fax and printer, wi fi, hi speed internet, Satellite TV with premium channels and satellite radio in the great room and Satellite TV in each bedroom; DVD/CD players, portable Bluetooth speakers to bring your music outside, beach chairs and coolers, and an extensive selection of books all await you. You need bring only your bathing suit and a few clothes for a perfect laid-back vacation.
A private rustic path winds down to the sparsely-peopled, pebble and coral beach below, offering fabulous snorkeling at one the best spots on the island. A left turn at the bottom of the hill takes you for a tranquil swim in nearby Chocolate Hole. The home itself is amazing, the private pool, the breezes, the lower level with the hammock became the hangout place when we had enough sun. There is plenty of space for gathering as a group and also escaping to private quarters to recharge. The ocean breeze and views were amazing. The location is close to Cruz Bay so easy for getting to excursions but we also had a couple days where we stayed ‘home’ and relaxed. The kitchen is well appointed. Groceries easy to find in two nearby markets that were well stocked. If we return to St John I will definitely look to book the home again.

We had the most relaxing week at Andante. After venturing out for the most mornings, it was wonderful to come back to a comfortable home and relax by the pool or just gaze at the beautiful view. Our favorite outside location was the lower deck because there was always a cool breeze coming in off the water. On most days we saw several iguana down there as well. If we ever return, we will definitely book again.

Great views and a well maintained property. Perfect distance from Cruz Bay - 15 min drive - easy to get there but far enough to truly be away. On island property manager Luciah was accessible, friendly and helpful.

Andante is beautifully located at the top of Iguana rd/Hawkhill which overlooks 2 beautiful bays. It's a short ride (about 10 min) from Cruz Bay and only about 5 min from the local grocery. We took a trip as 2 couples and stayed for a week in this lovely villa. The gorgeous entry is lined with tropical plants and beautiful stone, well lit for evening/night returns. The kitchen is well stocked with anything you may need for your stay. The outside decks get a great breeze to allow you to relax a little longer in the island sun and soak up the unobstructed views. On the second tier deck the pool has shaded areas for the loungers and the night hot tub under the stars is an experience that shouldn't be missed. The owners provide 2 portable Bluetooth speakers, pool towels, and floats for a great hang by the pool after a day at the beach or you can sneak down to the quiet lower level for a shaded nap in the hammock that's big enough for 2. The ONLY thing we would change is renting a jeep next time, Marilyn recommended it but we love the taxi experience so much we opted out. She was right in her recommendation and we would have been able to explore more had we had our own vehicle. It's also a must as the dumpsters are not "across the street", they're across from the grocery as you head into town. The property owners are so kind and knowledgeable and have really thought of everything. The local property management company they use is also committed to providing a great vacation with the right touch of service without too much during your stay. We notified them of a concern about a jet in the hot tub around 7pm and a repair person was there in less than 24 hours to fix it! Read the book and read it again if you stay as we found more interesting info about halfway through, the fans, the laundry, the games and so much more. The skylights allow so much beautiful sunlight in the home during the day we rarely used any lights and found ourselves turning off switches that weren't on because it was so well lit.
