A little farther north, the trip to Tobermory will take you around 40 minutes. It's well worth it though. A veritable paradise for photographers, divers, hikers and boaters it offers a number of charming shops and boutiques.
Natural Beauty
Hike the world famous Bruce Trail - just be sure to bring your camera! The Bruce Peninsula is a place of Natural beauty, with many globally rare species of plants and animals, boasting some of the most striking orchids in North America. Nearby Petrel Point Nature Reserve has a beautiful boardwalk. It's a great place to view wildflowers and bird life.
Scuba-dive in crystal clear waters of Georgian Bay and explore the many shipwrecks in Tobermory's Fathom Five National Marine Park.
Take your canoe or kayak to a number of nearby inland lakes and rivers, or just launch in the bay in your own backyard.
Look For a Bargain
Down the road 10 minutes, there are loads of deals to be had at the flea market every Saturday in nearby Oliphant. On Sunday, head down highway six to the flea market at the Handicraft house.
Every Tuesday bargain hunters should plan an excursion to the farmer's Market at Keady Ontario. Roughly 45 minutes south of Howdenvale, (with a convenient stop at Tim Hortons in Hepworth), the market boasts rustic alleys packed with 250 vendors selling a wide variety of produce ranging from Niagara peaches to deli meats, home baking, crafts and a broad assortment of other goods.
