Sophies Place - Ocean View Hm w/ 4 Primary Suites, Easy Beach Access

The place is not ready to be rented - there are a couple of safety issues (carpet corners curled presenting a tripping hazard and the ladder on the bunk bed is not secured.) There were many broken items - at least 12. This includes the sofa bed, which was broken and extremely dirty, the screen and outdoor chairs, as well as indoor chairs/stools, and both kitchen faucets. The place was not clean. The refrigerator smelled strongly of crab. The crab was left in and around the trash cans. The kitchen countertops were not clean. We did not receive a call back from Meredith about these issues and neither Meridith nor VRBO seems to be concerned about the problems.

We spent our annual girls trip at this home and it was perfect. Great home with plenty of room and bathrooms. Would absolutely stay again.

This house was very spacious and as each room has its own full private bathroom! We traveled as a family of 13 and did not feel cramped at all. There is an ocean view and the beach is less than a 1 minute drive away with public parking. The house was clean and had almost everything we needed. Some of the living/dining room furniture is getting a bit shabby, uncomfortable, and wobbly which might be considered if you plan to spend a lot of time using them. The kitchen/dining/living room are on the upper floor and the staircase is steep and slippery- not a problem for us but our kids fell a few times before learning to take them slow. I recommend stopping by the nearby dollar tree for a broom and a few basic cleaning supplies as there is nothing in the house other than dish soap and it's nice to be able to clean up basic messes. The house is also very close to the main grocery stores. Overall this is a positive review, the house itself is wonderful and we would stay again!

Front grass not cut,some plug-ins not working, small balcony ready to give way, felt like a homeless camp look trashy from front yard Because of grass.Have video of balcony shaking. Didnt realize there so many stairs Husband had trouble climbing.

Sophie's Place has a lot to offer for large family get-togethers. We were able to host our family dinners while there. The main living area upstairs was very accommodating and comfortable for 15 adults. Be aware that the living, dining, kitchen and 1 master bedroom are on the upper floor requiring several stairs to get there. Take this in to consideration if you have elderly or mobility challenged persons. Communication with the reservation company (Meredith Lodging) was good. When we arrived there were several cleanliness issues, mostly in the kitchen/dining. They offered to send maintenance. We opted to clean the problem areas/items ourselves. But did have them bring us washcloths as the house only had 6 total. I would recommend this home to others and I would stay here again.

Was a very nice property perfect for our family trip. The living room furniture was well-loved so could stand to be replaced. Few broken dining room chairs would be good to be replaced too. But there was plenty of seating for our large family so that was great, the kitchen was large and bedroom/bathroom ratio was perfect. Close walk to the beach, we could hear the waves and see the sunset from the balcony. Overall a clean place, we were very pleased with this property.

We all had a wonderful time at Sophie’s place at Roads End this weekend.

Lots of room for everyone. Each bedroom had a bathroom which was a convenient. Down side is bedrooms are mostly all downstairs so if anyone is up walking around in the kitchen or living room, you can hear the floors creak.

The house itself was a great layout with each bedroom having its own bathroom. However there were several rugs throughout the house that were trip hazards. Screens needed to be replaced and a deck was blocked off with caution tape. TVs were very outdated and only 3 channels. Most of the ones in the bedrooms didn't work.

Property was so clean! Amazingly stocked for our stay. We LOVED that every room had an attached bathroom. We would love to stay here again. The absolute best part for me was the kitchen!!!

The location within walking distance to the beach. The 4 vehicle parking restriction was a bugger until we discovered we could get a special parking pass at the casino. We discovered the BBQ was missing but when I contacted the rental agency they brought one to us right away. When we arrived we noticed some minor cleaning issues such as candy wrappers under some of the furniture. It would have been nice to have a broom available to help us with daily cleaning but couldn't find one and the towels for large spills were not under the sink as the sign said. Overall the house was wonderful. We would definitely recommend it and will book it for future stays.

Took us forever to make breakfast, lunch, n dinner due to the low heat it was putting out, even when we had it on maximum power! Can't access the garage to put our cars in. No broom in sight to sweep! Had to go buy a broom. Garbage bin outside was already full. Just in a few hours a dumb cop came to remind us only 4 cars maximum to park here. We only had 4 cars!! Overall this is by far the WORST BEACH HOUSE EVER!!! NEVER COMING BACK!!

Reviewer Comments: There were many things we enjoyed about our stay at Sophie's Place.......the wonderful view, the large kitchen, eating area, and living room space all in one. Also, it was great to have a bathroom for each bedroom. However, there were some concerns you might want to pass along to the owners. 1) First of all, please do something (like adding a strip of colorful tape) to the stairs. Several of us missed the last step before the landing when coming down the stairs from the living area. We were fortunate that no one was injured, but because the wood blends so well, it is very hard to see that last step before the landing. 2) Several of the igniters on the gas stove do not work well, and one of them actually sticks in the on position at times. It was a problem and a concern trying to light the burners at times. 3) Some type of instruction booklet about the appliances would be helpful.....for instance the oven has no "start" button and it made for trial and error trying to make sure it was "on" in order to cook dinner. The same goes for the dishwasher, refrigerator, and TV. We had to call maintenance to fix the sound quality on the TV. While a DVD player in each bedroom is nice, TVs would be nice as money permits. The morning we left the freezer was not working and all the things inside were melted and the inside refrigerator was not as cold as it needed to be. Microwave turntable rack does not work. (4) It might be a good idea to check the leg supports on the dining chairs. We found a couple to be broken. 5) A welcome packet that contained a note pad and pencil would be helpful as well as more instructions about where to put the trash and/or recycling. 6) Consider sharpening knives in the kitchen or provide a sharpener. Dull knives can be a danger to the cooks. 7) Coasters for the furniture would be helpful. I know this sounds like a lot of "picky" items, but all in all we enjoyed our stay very much, and would certainly recommend it to others.

There were a few issues that we had to contend with though that need to be addressed prior to another renter arriving. It was very nice, though, with a large kitchen and roomy bedrooms with their own bath. A couple of problems - there was no vacuum or broom available. We stayed five days with our family, and definitely could have used a broom to sweep up after the grandkids! There were several burned out light bulbs, but when I called the office, the maintenance guy came right away and fixed them. We also had problems with the TVs. The VRBO ad indicated there was cable for the TVs in every room, but not true. Only the TV in the family room had cable. The other TVs were only DVD players. That said, we were not there to watch TV, but it would have been nice to have it available if the weather had been bad. Also, one of the beds had apparently not had fresh sheets put on. Many hairs in it. But - Just a short walk to the beach, and located in a beautiful neighborhood. Overall, a great experience!

The only negative about this property is multiple stairs - the living area is on the second floor so it is up or down frequently. Not a problem if you can handle climbing or descending stairs.
