About this villa rental

This beautiful bayside beach villa is right on Tambor Beach in Bahía Ballena (Whale Bay, located within the gated community of Los Delfines in Tambor, Costa Rica. The home is one of a kind in this gated community as it sits at the edge of a park, thus having more privacy than the rest of the development. (I especially like to hear and watch the howler monkeys in the trees in the park 25 ft from the front door. The other morning, I saw over 20 in those trees, some with babies hanging onto moms.)

When I first walked into the house I was blown away by the view through the floor-to-ceiling windows in the whole front of the house with an incredible view of a beach paradise. (I swear, it looks like a picture postcard, complete with palm trees, broad sandy beach, and beautiful blue ocean. I'm pretty sure the gods photoshopped that view!)

The downstairs has an open floor plan with a large dining/living area and a custom kitchen with teak wood cabinets and new appliances. The extended living room has a semi-private double size day bed with its own full bathroom. The two sliding doors open to a patio with a sectional couch, a small raised table and stools, and a large live edge wood table that seats up to 10 people covered by a new porch roof which, along with the surrounding palm trees, creates a perfect covered outdoor space. There's also a gas grill for cooking outside and a large hammock waiting for you to lay down and read a book or take a nap.

Up the staircase are the three bedrooms each with an en-suite bathroom and again with the floor to ceiling windows! The master suite has a king-sized bed, a large bathroom with ocean views from the shower, and a large balcony along two sides of the bedroom overlooking that fantastic view with many fans. (I love to sit on the balcony in the early mornings in the cool breeze, watch the scarlet macaws swoop by in pairs and just marvel at the view. I also love sleeping at night with the doors open listening to the ocean waves.) The other two en-suite bedrooms also have a wall of floor to ceiling glass.

This villa sits on an expansive, 4-mile beach with nice soft black sand...easy to walk/run on, and a very gradual slope to the beach. (I counted them today...it's 75 steps to the water at high tide; 240 steps at low tide, depending on the phase of the tide). It's not a great surfing beach since it's in a bay, but it's a fantastic swimming beach. However, the previous owner says she could surf here sometimes. For your enjoyment, there’s surfboard, boogie-boards, some snorkels and mask and fins, and lots of floaties. I also have 2 pickle ball sets, a bocci ball set, and horseshoes. Oh yes, and there's a nice pool just about 25 steps from the patio that we share with seven other houses. (My new early morning routine is to run on the beach, cool off in the ocean, have a dunk in the pool, and then eat breakfast on the balcony. Did I mention the incredible view?)

There are lots of places to go and things to do in the area. Within Los Delfines, there is a beautiful 9-hole golf course, tennis and pickleball courts, and a volleyball court on the beach. Often there are free exercise classes at the restaurant on the beach by my house. Or how about a boat tour to Tortuga Island for snorkeling and lunch on the beach...or a visit to the Curú Wildlife Refuge, horseback riding on the beach and into the mountains, hiking to local waterfalls and swimming in their pools, coastal or deep sea fishing with local fishermen, whale watching tour, taking an ATV tour in the area's jungles, snorkeling or scuba diving, experiencing a Montezuma zipline canopy tour and jumping off the cliff over a waterfall, going on a night boat tour to swim in the bioluminescence, or exploring the well-known surf towns of Montezuma and Santa Teresa for some great restaurants, shopping, surfing, great sunsets, and fun nightlife? And when you're done with the adventures and hustle and bustle, come home to the relaxing peace and quiet of your Tambor beach getaway. (I'm sure it can get busier, especially during Easter Week, but I've rarely seen more than 10 people on the whole 4-mile long beach at one time. More often than not, I'm the only one on the beach. It's like I have my own personal beach and bay!)

There’s a small, but well-stocked, convenience store within the community, a (slightly) bigger store in the town of Tambor just down the road, or a couple of bigger grocery store about 20 minutes to the east in Paquera and 20 minutes west in Cóbano. There's also a Sunday market with fresh produce, German meats, Italian market, fish and seafood, bakery goods, and artesan clothes and crafts. If you don't want to cook you can stroll over to the beachfront restaurant just down the beach half a football field from our house, with good food and very friendly owners and karaoke and dancing Thursdays and Saturdays. There are many incredible restaurants in the area as well.

Only about 3 hrs from San José, depending on traffic, across a ferry, or a 30-minute ride in a small prop plane to the local Cóbano airport only 20 minutes away. Come make yourself at home at a true tropical paradise! (Can you tell I'm in love with this house?...and the views!! I must be dreaming.) #CostaRica #Beachhouse #CostaRicaBeachHouse

Our stay was amazing. 10/10!

Paradise found…Jeanette’s ocean front house is absolutely amazing and surpassed all our expectations. The house itself is so spacious with lots of inside and outside choices for lounging/chilling, with a fantastic inside/outside feel due to all the opening windows and doors (with bug screens). The property is extremely well equipped with everything you’d need, including pool/beach toys and plenty of beach towels. The Howler monkeys came to the adjacent trees on 4-5 days of our stay, so many plus babies, just amazing.Rancho’s Restaurant Bar is very good, friendly service and nice fresh food.We used Tavo Tours for our Tortuga Island Tour, they pick up straight on the beach and are just the best. This is a must do trip and the Tavo team are all about making the customer happy, use them.We went end of October, so still wet season, we had a mixed bag weather wise, but it didn’t bother us. It was awesome watching the storms over the ocean at night. It was also so quiet when we went, you virtually have the amazing beach to yourself and even the pool for most of our trip as we were the only ones in the complex of 8 villas for all but two of the days.I cannot say much more, I’ll just finish by saying this was probably our best vacation rental to date, if you thinking of booking don’t second guess, just do it, you’ll love it!

Our stay was incredible and exceeded our expectations. Having everything we needed from sand toys to boogie boards for the beach which was steps from the back patio was incredible. The beach was fantastic with good waves for our older kids to enjoy while feeling safe having the younger kids swim as well. Having a fully stocked kitchen with all of the cooking supplies was handy for us to cook breakfast and lunch so that we could splurge for dinner was great! 3 private bedrooms with AC units and their own bathrooms was incredible with a master suite with ocean views was breathtaking! We did an excursion to Tortuga Island and went snorkeling and swam with bioluminescence. We also ate dinner at Los Vivos beach, a private beach with a fantastic restaurant. Our stay was incredible and the host has a property manager who communicated with us as needed to make sure we were comfortable. We definitely want to come back.

A Simply Wonderful experience from booking to check out.The owner has been wonderful. The property manager was easy to communicate with and quickly responded to a few minor maintenance issues.I’ve rented many properties for my travel group and we all agree, this has been the best.Casa de Karma is magical! The condo is just perfect. The setting is just perfect. The beach, perfect. The shared pool is perfect.I’ve always shied away from “shared pools” but as the the property description indicates, no one is ever there.I work at a drug and alcohol treatment center in Ann Arbor MI. Called Dawn Farm. We have numerous roosters. At Tambor Bch. You have numerous Scarlet Macaws. I much prefer being woken by Scarlet Macaws! We will never forget this place!Life Changing!!!Pura Vida!
