In the centre of the pretty village of Weem and surrounded by the most beautiful scenery in highland Perthshire, Tigh Craggan is a welcoming, cosy, semi-detached cottage ideal for a couple or a small family. On the ground floor, guests enter the cottage into a utility/boot room, which is a handy place to keep outdoor clothing and boots. The spacious contemporary kitchen is fitted with quality appliances and has a central island giving you plenty of space to practice your cooking skills. Leading off the kitchen, guests will find a bright and comfortable living/dining room, which benefits from having windows on three sides, cosy sofas and a coal-effect fire for those cooler evenings to curl up with a book and relax. The first floor has two bedrooms, one with twin beds and the master with a kingsize bed, which has windows on both sides to make the most of the views. The modern bathroom has a shower cubicle as well as a bath, and what could be better than a nice bubble bath after a day on the river or walking in the hills? The outside space, which catches the sun most of the day, is shared with Little Tigh Craggan (ref UK10204), and each cottage has its own sitting-out area with garden furniture.

From the doorstep you can walk to the one friendly restaurants in the village, and onto riverside walks along the River Tay and Weem Hill woodland walk, which takes you through some of the most scenic woodland to St Davids Well. Dating back many centuries, there are great views of nearby Castle Menzie where Bonnie Prince Charlie stayed on his way to the Battle of Culloden. This area is surrounded by folklore and legends, and the old Kirk in Weem has a magnificent interior and is well worth a visit. The area is ideal for cycling with quiet roads and tracks to follow from the door.

Aberfeldy is just over a mile away and has a good selection of places to eat and have coffee, or visit galleries, an award-winning book shop, community cinema and local shops, including a butcher. If you like a round of golf on your holidays, the local golf course welcomes visitors and there is a putting green in the summer months on which to practice. For adrenaline junkies there is white water rafting, canyoning and kayaking on the river, or for a more relaxing pace a walk in the Birks of Aberfeldy or along the river side. The local Dewars Whisky Distillery offers tours, letting you into the secrets of making Scotland’s national drink and you also get the opportunity to sample some.

For days out you can enjoy a Highland Safari into the mountains to spot the local wildlife, surrounded by the dramatic scenery of this most beautiful area of Scotland. A cruise on Loch Tay shows you close up some of the inaccessible areas of the loch with its nature and wildlife. With so much to do in this area, you are in an ideal all year round location for a short break. Shop 1 mile, pub and restaurant 500 yards.

Tigh Craggan can be booked together with Little Tigh Craggan (UK10204) to accommodate up to 6 guests.

The Cottage was lovely and clean and in a great location just outside Aberfeldy. Not too far to walk into Aberfeldy and only minutes away in the car. Lots of lovely walks straight from the door as well. Aberfeldy itself has plenty good coffee shops and restaurants.

What a beautiful cottage, a lovely pleasant surprise! We had the best week walking, white water rafting, river bugging and canyoning.....and to come back to a warm, clean, cosy cottage at the end of a busy day made our short holiday perfect  just wish we could have had a few extra days as we were all sad to leave. The cottage is lovely and very well equipped.
The cottage is lovely and very well equipped.
The cottage is lovely and very well equipped. Also very clean. I was a bit disappointed with regard to it having been advertised as pet friendly. There is an open staircase from the kitchen to the bedrooms etc upstairs. Fortunately my dog is quite well behaved and obeyed our instruction not to go upstairs. The garden is tiny and shared. There was a wrought iron gate to shut off the very busy main road but as two other houses had to use this to access the car parking we felt we couldn’t make use of it. The road is extremely busy, often with very heavy vehicles. The cottage is very close to Aberfeldy and there are a lot of forest walks around the area. The house is comfortable and spacious with good natural light coming in from its many windows. Sheets, towels etc. all spotlessly clean. Kitchen well equipped and the main bathroom well supplied with shower gel etc. Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo
