Backyard Palace Terrace

Bruno was friendly and welcoming, gave me the grand tour. The property was spotless and perfect for our needs. The location is top class, right on the main pedestrianised shopping street, and only metres away from the Bolhao metro stop. Trindade is walkable too at just one stop away. Flat is well equipped. Lots of crockery and cutlery provided, plus glasses etc and a coffee machine. There are lots of little cafes nearby for breakfast and a good bar on the corner if you fancy a nightcap on the way home, The outdoor space was lovely, spacious and sunny. Air conditioning worked well. There is a washing machine and washing up liquid/laundry pods are provided. A large bottle of water is also gifted, nice touch.

Be aware that the flat is up 2 flights of stairs, not a problem for the fit and able, but could be an issue for some. This is not a 2 bedroom property, but rather a studio with a separate bedroom across the terrace with its own bathroom. This worked well for us but you cannot access the main building studio part from the outside terrace, so if my friend wanted a coffee or something from the fridge, she had to knock the door to be let in. The SMEG fridge was broken during our stay, luckily the replacement mini fridge kept the Vinho verde cold enough! Only one small towel plus a hand towel provided per person, some spares would have been appreciated for a 4 night stay and some hooks on which to hang them in the bathroom.

Mooi appartement met een leuk terras. De ligging is perfect. Het appartement ligt aan een grote winkelstraat op loopafstand van belangrijke bezienswaardigheden.

Die Lage ist einfach perfekt, der Außenbereich sehr großzügig und der Gastgeber sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Wir haben uns sehr wohlgefühlt.

The location was ideal for seeing all the sites and generally wandering the city. The beds were comfortable and plenty of hot water

It was extremely noisy due to poor insulation. The photos of the property were years out of date. The terrace was overgrown with bamboo the furniture was grubby. The lights did not work so not able to sit out after sunset. A dog barked for hours each day and the general appearance of the terrace was grubby and unattractive such a shame as we had hoped to be able to sit out and eat. The door from the main room has no handle on the outside so had to be left open to allow access from the other room across the terrace. The kitchen was tiny with little work surface abc the kitchen pots etc were in a cupboard so high it was impossible to use them so all we could use was the micro wave. It’s actually not a two bedroom apartment it’s one large room which has a bed the galley kitchen and a seating area The description makes it sound as if there are two separate bedrooms which is not the case.
