O2 Hotel Iguazu

I really enjoyed staying at O2, the room was clean and spacious. The breakfast offered has a variety of options. The staff was very accommodating and allowed me to leave my baggage before my check in time. The location is great walkable to the center of the area where there are many stores and restaurants.

When I arrived at the hotel, I was indeed a bit surprised by how dated everything appeared. The building, rooms, and facilities reminded me of a budget hotel I stayed at in Bangkok a decade ago. My first reaction was uncertainty—I questioned my choice, as everything felt old and quite basic. However, the receptionist’s genuine warmth and helpfulness made a positive impact on my initial impression. The room was extremely simple—just the essentials, with no extra features. After spending two more days there, I realized that this area is less tourist-oriented and not as developed as other destinations. This helped me put things in perspective, and I began to appreciate the hotel more, even though it remains basic and dated. Breakfast can be hectic, as most guests eat at the same time before heading to Iguazu Falls. Expect a busy atmosphere in the morning. Overall, as long as you expect a basic hotel and consider the price, this is a reasonable place to stay. The value matches what’s offered, especially if you’re just looking for a place to rest while exploring the area.

Close to numerous restaurants; not too far (6 blocks) to public bus to the Falls; large room; vg breakfast.

There is a major security issue with this hotel that I need to caution travellers. When I have checked-in, entered my room and about to take shower, a man (another traveler) suddenly broke into my room, though I have already locked the door (there was no additional security lock that enables the door to partially open). When I reported to the hotel staff, they casually explained that it was due to a system glitch. But I wonder: shouldn’t each hotel room have a unique room key? How could it happen that they gave another traveler the same room key as my room? The other serious problem is that there is really NO way to securely lock your room to prevent someone to break in.
