About this house rental

Our Cabin at Axis Hill Farm is accepting reservations for 2 night minimums as well as longer term rentals of weekly and monthly. We’ll offer attractive discounts for those wanting to stay longer than a week. Just let us know when you want to arrive and how long you’d like to stay!
This 1 bedroom 1 bath unit will sleep up to 4 people and is complete with a queen bed and pull out queen sofa with electric air pump. The Cabin comes with a full kitchen, both covered and open patio, covered car port, and sits high on a hillside. It boasts a fabulous view eastward down the Guadalupe River Valley toward Kerrville, TX. The unit is complete with 43" Direct TV and fast Wi-Fi. In addition, there is private access to our river front, which is an easy 1/4 mi drive in a low clearance vehicle or a nice walk. It offers deep water swimming, canoeing, kayaking, floating, and fishing along with privacy for your enjoyment. For those of our guests who enjoy bird watching and hiking, we have private acreage on the property that is accessible for those who wish to partake.
For Winter Texans who would like to use our cabin as their base, we even have 50 amp service, water, and sewer for their RV and it is covered!

We loved staying at Nancy’s place when we were there to pick up our daughter from camp. It’s located next door to bridgets baskets and we enjoyed the private river access and kayaks. Nancy place is cute and clean and has a full kitchen and a grill that we were happy to have available. We will definitely stay here again!

We loved our stay at this precious cozy cabin. The cabin has everything a person would need, including a nice supply of coffee :) The bed was super comfy to me and the pull out sofa was more comfortable than most. The best part about the cabin is the location. The view is spectacular- we watched the sunset every night over the Hill Country. There is river access (super refreshing!) and plenty of food options nearby. The owner was very kind and helpful and nicely communicative. We’re very grateful to have found this Hill Country gem and would love to stay again if / when we return to the area.

Dick Colvin's property had the best of both worlds. Nicely situated up in the hills with spectacular views but 1/4 mile walk or drive puts you on one of the prettiest spots on their fork of the river. Pictures don't do it justice. Everything was immaculate and Dick and his Daughter and Son-in-law were "super" hosts.

The property was beautiful. There was a view of a beautiful sunrise each morning. The river was not right outside the door but the privacy and cleanliness of the area was will worth the hop, skip and jump. Mr. Colvin was very attentive and easy to reach. The cabin was clean and we had everything we needed in the full kitchen. My daughter and I shared the bed. It was very comfortable and we had enough space. We were visiting family in Kerrville and the drive was only about twenty minutes from the cabin in Hunt. A beautiful drive too. So many times I have visited Kerrville and could not get a decent hotel room. Next time I will definitely check to see if Mr.Colvin's cabin is available.

It was amazing, perfect location, and easy directions to location thanks to Mr. Colvin. The cabin was spotless, well stocked and comfortable bedding. The privacy and the front view of the cabin was so nice. The timing of the cold front made things even more perfect at night. Sitting by the firepit and watching the stars was so beyond nice and relaxing. Even getting up early Saturday morning and drinking our coffee outside and seeing a shooting star made the morning even more special. And we appreciated more than anything that Mr. Colvin made us feel important and gave us a lot of information about the area around us from restaurants to little grocery stores and a lot of information in between which we loved. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The beds were comfortable and the house was adorable. We enjoyed our coffee on the patio and playing cards down by the river. I even went for a run one morning and it was a beautiful and challenging run with the hill. The owner was more than accommodating and made sure I was taken care of. Highly recommend this house!!

We selected this cabin because of its close proximity to family in Kerrville. Once we arrived at this amazing place, we never thought about Kerrville! The cabin was very easy to find. Loved the close proximity to The Hunt Store and Bridget’s Basket. Dick Colvin was very quick to respond with rental information and answering questions. The cabin was perfect for two people. We especially enjoyed having our adult children over for a little river time, cooking on the charcoal grill and dining on the outdoor patio table. We will definitely be returning to the Colvins and Axis Hill!

I cannot say enough lovely things about this property. Dick was such an easy host, and we have planned our trip for next year. Communication was quick and easy. The cabin was clean, well-appointed, and the best location for us. The views of the stars and down the Kerrville valley were stunning. The Riverfront was the perfect, quiet way to spend an afternoon. Dick’s grandson was at the swimming location and helped us with inner tubes and floats. The whole family is wonderful. I’m so happy we found Axis Hill. It was the perfect place for us to stay in the Hill Country. Thank you so much, Dick! We look forward to staying at the cabin again. Thank you for hosting us!

My husband and I stayed here for the weekend for a belated anniversary getaway. We were met at the gate by the owner who welcomed us and showed us around the property. He even drove us down in his jeep to show us the beautiful , private riverfront area that we had access to for our entire stay. There is a pavilion, table and chairs, kayaks and fully inflated floats and tubes ready for you to enjoy. There is even WiFi at the river for anyone who needs to get a little work in while the family plays or for anyone’s who needs it. It is truly a hidden gem with anything you could need for a perfect day at the river. The owners have thought of everything to make their guests comfortable, relaxed and happy. You can tell that the property is well kept and maintained and that much time and effort is made to keep it looking wonderful. The cabin was spotless and very up to date. The kitchen had everything you could possibly need and more. They really thought of everything to make it a great stay!! The view from the cabin is outstanding and overlooks the Guadalupe River valley and the town of Kerrville in the distance. We enjoyed sitting outside just enjoying the peace , quiet and privacy while taking in the beautiful view. We felt very lucky to have found this hidden gem and loved meeting Dick and his wife Nancy. The owners are amazing and some of the friendliest people we have ever met. We fell in love with the hill country and this area a few years ago and we are so happy to have found another incredible place to visit. We have already made plans to return with our older children in the summer and can’t wait to show them the riverfront area and the beautiful property. We highly recommend this place to anyone who needs a change of scenery and a peaceful, relaxing getaway. There is plenty to see and do nearby and nearby in Ingram and Kerrville too.

We had a great visit and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Dick reached out quickly after we made the reservation and made himself available for information on the property and surrounding areas. Comfy bed, full kitchen with cooking and grilling utensils, charcoal grill and a nice fire pit with plenty of seating. We highly recommend going to Bridgette’s Basket next door. We picked our own delicious produce, found fresh and canned veggies in the market. We ordered takeout from Bridgette’s restaurant because it was raining. They have a great deck that overlooks the farm. Thanks again, Dick for your hospitality!

Great get-away!

The cabin was up a hill and had a great view of the area. We spent our days hanging by the river relaxing and riding our bikes. Dick and his wife were excellent hosts, when he saw we had our mountain bikes he let us know about several areas to ride. Our nights were outside by the fire pit looking at the stars. The cabin itself is perfect, so many nice touches. We'll be back!

Loved this nice property on the hill. Super clean! All the comforts of home. Great location in the Hunt area. The host was so nice and accommodating. Answered questions about the area and showed us great hospitality. The stars at night were fabulous and it was quiet and peaceful. We had a wonderful week of rest and recharge lounging by the river. The cabin is well appointed and well maintained. The bed is possibly the best we have slept on (for our taste) anywhere beside home. The patio is excellent for stargazing and wildlife watching. The river area is as good as it gets, we spent most of the time there. The Colvins are excellent hosts and made sure we enjoyed our stay, we are already planning a return trip.

Very clean and close to several areas on the river. We are avid kayakers, so the stretch that had river access was somewhat short, however a quick drive to Ingram and Kerrville yielded longer trips. The cabin itself was very nice and spacious. Kitchen had everything to cook our meals. Very friendly hosts as well! Highly recommend.

We stayed for a week and really enjoyed this beautiful property. The cabin was perfect for the two of us; allowing us plenty of space and a well appointed kitchen to make all of our meals. The table and umbrella just outside the cabin was perfect for sunset meals with a hill country view. The round table inside the cabin made it easy to spread out with laptop for work and enjoy inside meals. The stargazing outside the cabin was awesome and the river access was amazing. We practically had the river to ourselves most of the week. The kayaks, floats and inner tubes were perfect for checking out the scenic Guadalupe. When we looked for a bite to eat off property, Bridget's Basket, right next door, served Lunch on their patio and all of the food was delicious. You can also pick vegetables at their garden and there is a market onsite to buy fresh produce, local eggs and homemade cookies and treats. We also explored nearby Kerrville and enjoyed our visit to the Riverside Nature Center and River trail with a quick stop to Starbucks for our favorite beverages. Overall, we really enjoyed our hill country getaway and look forward to returning soon!
